The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Augustus nodded in agreement. He hadn’t had the opportunity to interact much with Lady Kane, but he found he liked her. So far she seemed sensible, straightforward, and amenable to suggestions—all traits that were to be valued. He trusted his gut when it came to his initial impressions of people, and had seldom found his initial impression to be an incorrect one.
The prince scooped up his last spoonful of stew. He sighed and pushed the bowl away a little, looking content and utterly at peace with the world. “These are strange times we find ourselves in, Lady Kane,” Augustus mused, “But they are not without hope.”
Ring of enchanted combat: ring that, when twisted around the finger three times, enhances one's combat abilities (the equivalent of ten additional combat points).
The woman felt the same about the prince, without knowing that he liked her, of course. They hadn't talked much before but he was a very reasonable man and what she valued most was that he was open to criticism. When he had mentioned they shouldn't give too many benefits to the Gifted, she could have simply agreed, but she hadn't. She had found it important to note while they had in fact not asked nor earned their gift, it wasn't fair to discriminate them because of something they couldn't change. As long as they used their gift for benevolent means, she had no issue helping them live their best lives. Malevolent means, on the other hand, were something she wouldn't stand for. People that used their gift for those reasons, deserved punishment.
"I'll drink to that", she said, lifting the corner of her mouth before taking a big sip of her drink. "It's important to always remind ourselves that there's hope. As long as we handle with our best intentions in mind, things will find a way of working themselves out." This could be applied to a wide variety of situations, and for now, she was telling herself to believe this in regard to her situation with Dresden.

“I couldn’t agree more.”
Augustus smiled warmly at Scout. Whether he was convinced of her denial of the rumors or not, it seemed he was content to let them go. He’d pay for his stew and bid Lady Kane farewell, leaving the tavern feeling lighter than when he had entered it.
