[ For Anslem Ellery ]
Severine wasn't in the best of moods on this particular day. One of her clients had been driving her crazy, the little brat. He refused to listen, refused to put in any ounce of effort. This was what happened when parents forced their children to learn something they cared nothing for. It was a waste of time. The child would never be good, that was mere fact, but Severine liked the income his sessions afforded and so she'd been forced to play a little game with them.
Of course, those games were harder to play when Sebastian wasn't there to trick the eyes along with the ears, but she managed just fine. The mini performance the kid put on sounded absolutely beautiful to his parents ears. If they forced him to do it again, when Severine was away, however...they would be disappointed, even angry. They'd likely assume it was the child, refusing to do his best for them when his teacher was away. Oh well. That little fact made her smile, at least.
"Do you like any of these, my lady?" Monica asked as they looked over the jewels offered at the stall in the town square. Severine sighed, lips protruding into somewhat of a pout.
"None of them catch my eye," she told her lady-in-waiting. "And I'm quite sick of looking, if I'm to be honest. Why don't we get some tea and sit down for a break? There are far too many people crowded here."
"Of course, my lady, why don't you go have a seat and I'll get us some tea."
"Wonderful, thank you Monica," Severine was already turning away from the older woman and seeking out an empty table, fashioned with a strong umbrella to avoid the direct sunlight. Spotting one, she crossed the square and sat down, sitting her coin purse just next to her and resting her hands in her lap. As she waited for Monica to return, she glanced around, taking note of the people in the crowd, though none of them with any particular interest.
