The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Head turned to the side, he watched her prepare the bed on the floor, just at the edge of his own bed. Close. He was glad. Nephys was less glad to ne disturbed, but he'd known it was coming sooner rather than later. He looked at the little balls of snow she had made as he lifted his head, reached down, and ate them. They'd already begun to melt, with Walnut distracted. Whatever water remained on the floor from them floated up in a stream, right into Nephys's mouth.
Once Kester was settled in her spot, Nephys scooted a little closer, curling next to her as much as the ram could curl. "Must you be so loud, Kaveri?" Nephys had already asked his human, but he wouldn't stop until the pillow was slung into his face. "Yes, menace is an apt word." He agreed, a little bleat of amusement at the pillow hit. Kaveri's expressions changed rapidly, moving from faux anger, to repressed giggles, and back to faux anger.
Glad you're so entertained, Nephys, Kaveri replied, yawning. That's why Walnut's my best friend. He appreciates me. Not like the two of you. You're just mean. Cruel. Unkind. And unjust, might I add, he yawned again, but he was grinning as he closed his eyes. His free hand, the one not draped over Walnut's back, hung just over the side of the bed.
The ram’s bleat of amusement matched Kester’s own amused satisfaction as the pillow landed squarely in Kaveri’s face - not that she’d entertained any doubts otherwise, given that she had been the one to fling it. While Kaveri tried to figure out exactly what he wanted to do with his face, Kester busied herself with returning the pillow to its proper location on her little bed. As she settled back down, she rolled her eyes at the man on the bed before catching sight of the river otter stretched out, the picture of utter contentment, on his favorite human.
Yeah, She agreed, turning on her side to face the bed. We’re so mean, aren’t we, Nephys. Curling up, she let the ram’s comforting, solid warmth guard her back as she had so many other nights. A moment passed before she reached out with the arm not curled under her head to lightly grab his hand. Can someone get the light? Whether a thin trickle of water or ice extinguished the flame, she didn’t know, but in the darkness, Kester closed her eyes and let the familiar presence of her favorite Dresmondi in the world lull her to sleep.
