The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
Our dearest and lovely admin welcomed her new baby boy, Jet, on Sept 7th! We're so happy for her and her family! Congratulations Mama!! Your boys are all so lucky to have such an incredible mom to love them! God bless!
A lot had happened since the ball, and it wasn't even the end of Hiems yet. The season seemed to be stretching on much longer than most seasons, but the cold did like to cling to Nevermere like life clinging to a determined but dying soldier.
In the past two weeks, Warren had finished his investigation into Zarha's parents and had found evidence to support many of her claims. It was a double-edged sword. It was fortunate that they had been sloppy enough to be caught, but it was unfortunate that Zarha had truly lived the life she'd spoken of. Many commoners suffered with criminal parents, abusive parents, absentee parents, many more with no parents at all, but the fact that it was very common made it no less sad.
Othello's party the night before had been a short, but messy, break from the work. With her parents trial over and the date set for their hanging, all that was left was to finish the paperwork and check on the soldier. As he signed the last paper with his name, he stood from his desk and tucked the parchment and pen carefully into his pocket, and set out for the Inn that he had temporarily been paying for her and her siblings to stay. He tied his horse off in front, went inside and nodded to the woman reading on a couch by the fire whom he knew owned the place, and headed upstairs.
Knocking on the door, he waited, and when the door was opened, his eyes would seek the soldier. "Ms. Sliva, may I have a word with you in private?" He asked, and if she obliged, he would lead her back downstairs to a table in a little kitchenette area, meant for guests to dine at, though no one was there. "Is your family doing well?"

Zarha having heard the results of her parents trail, thought she would feel relief that there would be paying for their crimes. However, there was a part of her that felt grief. Where is she grieving them? They is apart of her that felt bad that she was, like they are her parents but she also know that they are a bad person.
Currently in the tavern with her younger siblings spending time with them. Idris is playing with his sword well Winona is sitting on her knee well her neighbor is sorting out the kid's clothes. When there was a knock on the door and she walked towards it. "My nephew shouldn't of left the party without you. I've been having firm words with that young man." She explained. "Oh Captain Woodwick." She bowed her head as she steped aside as she looked at Zarha.
Zarha looked towards Warren, when he asked if they can speak in private. "Yes sir." She give a weak smile as she placed her sister down and followed Warren downstairs she didn't really speak until he asked her about the family. "Truthfully they a lot of emotions going around. Espically Lilac and Rajiv, they both want to be strong they both know this is the right thing. Idris has lot of question and anger in him that he doesn't know what to do. Winona none stop crying."
The answer to his question was about what was to be expected. Zarha had a lot of siblings that were affected by what their parents had done. This reckoning had come too late for one of them, but the rest would be able to move on with their lives better for not having parents around that were so willing to throw them away. "I know it's difficult for your family to process. I sympathize with you and your siblings, truly, but in time they will come to realize the necessity of your actions, of the trial, and of your parents fate. You will all be better off for it, and all of the emotions that comes along with it will become easier to deal with over time."
He took a breath, hands linking together in his lap. "Now that they have been sentenced, you and your family may return to your home. It will be safer now. Those who worked with your parents would not dare go near it knowing they are wanted and will suffer the same fate as their accomplices. We were able to catch a few of them already, but the rest will have scattered."

Her hands intertwined as she looked down at them as she take a deep breath. "It hard to try and help them navigate their emotions when I struggle to navigate my own myself. I often feel like I have nobody to talk to. Which I know is partly my own fault for cutting people off. But now.. I am feeling like I am pushing myself to much. Like with my new assignment, I should feel excited about my first assigment but all I feel is this is my job."
She ran her hand through her hair, "At the party I feel so out of place and everybody kept on telling to go home and it felt that nobody wanted me around."
Her admission that navigating her feelings was difficult was an understanding one. Warren didn't know many devoted military officers with an outstanding amount of emotional intelligence, himself included. Those in the military were not taught to nurture feelings, but to hide them if they caused trouble or utilize them if they drove you. That wasn't always the best way to go about things, though. "The woman who helps you take care of the children would likely be the best to speak with. She has family, I'm sure she's experienced loss. Women such as herself are usually very understanding of such things, and she seems to know and care for your family. I'm sure she would allow you to confide in her." Because expecting her military cohorts to be there for her in that way was unlikely.
Warren frowned, unsure of exactly what Zarha meant when she spoke of the party, and going home. "I'm not sure what you mean," he said. "I spoke with you the whole time, until the party was over, at which point I did ask you to go home. That was not because you did not belong or because no one wanted you around...in fact, you were standing there when I asked many people to leave, were you not?" He shook his head. "Mr. Allemeade was drunk, he had upset Ms. Lassiter before storming out. By that point, the best course of action was for everyone to leave. What followed was not enjoyable, I assure you. A couple of us remained behind to clean up the mess, and then we left as well. If you took it personally, I do apologize, but I assure you that no one was thinking of not wanting you around. The party had simply run its course."

Zarha nodded softly when he suggested she talk to her neighbour about her feelings. It just hard to find the right words to say to her when she spent so many years pushing them aside that she doesn't know if these are truly her feeling or what people expected her to feel during this period.
When he apologies. "I didn't go home though, I couldn't go home. Plus I didn't go find Tor and walked with him. I found Othello and some things were said and I got angry and started pushing him because I was angry. he made me feel like I had no friends which is true then he passed out I screamed so loud because I will never be anything more then just a soldier. I have no leadership skills, no people skills."
Warren hadn't really expected all of this, but he did his best to understand. She was still young, and he imagined that his son, if he were still alive, could have had similar problems. Problems understanding people, problems making friends. Warren was not good at teaching those things. Daphne would have been the one to teach him, but she had died too soon. "Mr. Allemeade was very drunk, and very upset, Ms. Sliva. You have to understand that when people are in such a state, they often say things they do not mean. You were invited to the party because he considers you a friend, but he was angry. It was not the time to speak with him, that's all."
As for having no friends, he didn't think that was true, but he couldn't exactly create opinions about her life that he was unsure of. It was entirely possible that people who considered her friends were just not good at showing it. Either way, it was what Zarha believed and he couldn't just disagree, so instead he opted to address her other statement. "There is nothing wrong with simply being a soldier, Ms. Sliva. Nevermeran soldiers are among the strongest in the kingdom. You help protect not only Skia and the rest of Nevermere, but Cambria, Coheed, and should they ever need it, likely Lorendale and Arynn Frey. We play a significant role. One does not have to have leadership skills to be successful in the military, nor does one need great people skills to make friends or be a good person. I feel like you are being much too hard on yourself. Most of your time is devoted to your work, or your family. It is difficult for people to maintain consistent relationships when they have so little spare time. There is nothing wrong with that. You're still very young. You've really only just gotten out of training. Give yourself some time. The lessons will help but they are not instantaneous."

"not the right place to talk to him. He was thinking of going swimming in his state. That was a suicide mission if you asked me. But nobody going to ask me will they?" She was annoyed with herself. She was trying, all she does is try, maybe she not a good soldier. "I've been in the military nearly a year sir. Yet I am just known as Private Sliva or the girl who trains to much. An explosion waiting to happen cause I don't do anything fun, no me time."
Zarha takes a soft breath. "I need people skills to do my job captain, like that three drunk man who tried to stay in the tavern without paying. If you asked me to do it again, I possibly still have the problem. stumbling over the words. People always ask people like Stormcrest or Mosse to go on tasks with them, me I just train and train and train. what the point of those lessons if I will never use them. I will never use political cause... I am a nobody and will always be a nobody."
Taking a few breath as she rubbed her forehead. "I am sorry sir, you don't need this I just needed to vent."

Warren's eyes remained focus on the girl, but he had to restrain a sigh. "Ms. Sliva," he began carefully, a tone of patience and understanding. "A lot is happening right now. You are not alone in your stress, nor your lack of free time. I understand that you're frustrated, but I can assure you that you're not doing nearly as badly as you think you are. Perhaps all of the recent events have compounded and made you feel this way, but objectively, you're doing better than some. That may not be what you want to hear, but pitying yourself will get you nowhere faster than anything else it is you're doing."
If there was one thing that got to Warren, it was a woe-is-me attitude. Perhaps because of what he had been through, what he had lost. The first time he'd spoken of it to anyone had been to Regan the night of the party, but even then, he could take responsibility and own up to his mistakes. "To be honest with you, you could have walked in, knocked all three of those men out immediately, and dragged them out by their feet. If you genuinely think everyone in the military except you has good people skills, you clearly haven't paid any attention. I'm not sure what to tell you, Ms. Sliva. I'm not here to try and convince you of something you don't believe. We must all govern ourselves, and while I sympathize with what you have been through, I cannot encourage you to continue in this self-pity. If you intend to keep feeling and thinking as you do, then I believe you must have a few very difficult decisions you need to make. Including finding an alternate source of money, because someone who believes they are little more than failure will find themselves a failure, and the assessments at the end of the season will not be kind to you."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out the parchment and pen, sliding them over to her. "I need you to sign this, it is your statement regarding your parents crimes. Once you have signed this, they will be gone, and your life will be your own. I cannot tell you what you should do with it."

Zarha looks down for a moment as she takes in everything that Warren was saying. She possibly needed this. laughing softly when he said she could of easily beaten those guys up. When he said finding an alternative source of money her eyes looked at him and shakes her head. "No, I promise I will stop this self-pity sir. I am a good soldier so there will be no finding an alternate source of money." She sounded confident, in her eyes, she believes that she is a good soldier, but she knows she isn't the best. "Pity got in the way I promise it won't happen again."
When he slides the pen and parchment she looked at it for a moment, her heart feels heavy for a moment, she opens it and she started reading it. Couple of the bigger words Zarha stopped as she sounds them out. Now not really carrying that she looked like a fool. Before she picked up the pen, the pen felt warm from being in Warren's pocket and she felt relaxed. The pen went down without a moment of thought as she signed her name. Passing the pen and parchment back she whipped a single tear on her face. No, she did the right thing.
"You are a good soldier," Warren agreed, assuring her. "Everyone struggles from time to time. It's understandable." He watched her take the paper and read it over. He hadn't wanted to be hard on her. Pity always felt like too harsh a word, even when it was true. Still, she seemed to bounce back quickly and of that he was glad. He wasn't sure he really knew what to do if she'd kept on the way she'd been going.
She signed the paper and slid it, and the pen, back to him. He nodded and took them, folding the paper up and sticking them both back into his pocket. "There's no need to thank me, Ms. Sliva. I'm merely doing my job." Some of her previous words lingered in his mind, and he gave her a moment before he brought it up. "You said that you were a little overwhelmed by the lessons. If you feel they're too much, you may stop. Should you feel you would like to pick them back up in the future, the offer will remain. It's entirely up to you."

When he said that she was a good soldier out of all the ranked officers, his words mattered most to her. A part of her thinks of she can be even half the soldier he is at his age then she knows she doing well. That all that matters. "I was knocks down. But what sort of soldier would I be if I don't stand up and carry on fighting?"
when he asked about the lesson she thought for a bit. "I don't think they to much. It was mostly the self pity talking. I can't say that learning about politics is not easy. Like it sounds like it's a battle field in its own way. Negotiations, court, trying to get my head round it. Like I understand now with Lady Johnson, it wasn't about what was said but now we held ourselves."
Warren nodded once to Zarha, the slightest smile of acknowledgement. "If there's anything we don't teach in Nevermere, it's how to give up." It was a little cliche, but Warren believed it at least and if Zarha believed it, that was what mattered. He hated to see anyone give up, especially when they had already worked so hard.
"Well, if you feel you're struggling, let your tutor know. She may be able to change the pace to make it easier. You're correct, though. Politics and the navigation of high society can be much like a battlefield of it's own. Women like Lady Caern, Lady Meng, and Lady Thornhill have proven time and time again that it requires a delicate balance, but they've spent years perfecting their craft. You're not going to learn it in a single season, or even two. It will take time, so be patient with yourself."

Zarha laugh slightly, "Yeah the huntsman made a point of that when I stepped back from the combat with Private Stormcrest, about us witches not backing down." She want to ask how she is. "I hoe she knows that she isn't as alone as she think she is. I feel like the ball affected her and I know she won't talk about it with me at least, but I hope she knows she is not alone." She wanted to asked about Ayls and if Regan was one to? However. with where they are sitting she doesn't want to cross the line.
"I know, can I ask.. ether when we come back from mission possible be best. If they anything political task wise I can even shadow on and watch. Can I? I understand if not?" She know she might not be able to however there only so much you can learn in a classroom and sometimes it is easier to learn by watching or doing.
Warren inadvertently looked downward toward the table between them when she brought up Regan. He still wasn't sure if everything between them had changed the previous night or not. But hearing other people speak positively about her always gave him a swell of pride. Not for himself, but for her. "Ms. Lassiter was right. Witches are the powerhouses of our military. Without your magic, and your fortitude, we would not be where we are. You should always keep your head held high, and remember that."
He hoped that Regan knew she wasn't alone. There was still a lot about her that Warren did know, though not for lacking of wanting. That kind of thing took time, but he nodded to Zarha all the same. "I'm sure she knows, Ms. Sliva. It's kind of you to worry for her."
When she began to ask a question, he thought it was going to be about Regan. Something about their relationship, or maybe what had happened at the ball. He was already lifting his hands to stop her, but it ended up being something different. "Oh," he said, relieved. "I honestly avoid as many of the social events as I can," he admitted, chuckling somewhat and shaking his head. "I told you before, I'm really not very good with it all. But I'm sure we can arrange something, assuming--" he was going to say 'assuming I come back' but figured it was better not to bring their conversation downward again. "--assuming you're still interested when we all return."
