The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Odina had been requested to come and speak with the Commander again, she immediately felt it was about her return to Cambria and to her understanding from their last talk that they needed to remove a situation before she could take on her role of governor. Perhaps there was an update so here she was standing outside the Commanders office dark hair pulled back tightly on her head what she wore was a mixture of the elegance of Nevermere in teal sundress but she had added the feirce elements of Cambria with pieces of armor that blended the two together. It of course had the splashes of more skin then what typical women of Nevermere women revealed a thing much more Cambrian however it was classy. Odina...Odina Ellis...had learned to tow the line of representing both Cambria and Nevermere and that was something she needed everyone to understand that.
"I'm here to see the Commander," she told the soldiers outside the door.

After hearing that he'd be going to Cambria to help instate Lady Ellis as the new governor, Warren knew he'd have to speak with her. Unfortunately, soon after he had been reprimanded for spreading information that was apparently confidential. That had landed him on probation, and with a permanent shadow until he left for his assignment. He had no intention of disobeying Hadrian's orders or his trust: the information given to him about the Cambrian girls being brought to Nevermere would remain among them until such a time Hadrian deemed it appropriate to tell her.
That said, he did feel it was better to speak to her in Hadrian's presence for the time being.
As he approached the office, Warren caught sight of the woman. And a sight she was. One could hardly deny her beauty, or the strength she emitted. Her outfit was not traditional, but he had spent time in Cambria, and he could tell that she had formed it herself. "Lady Ellis," Warren said, bowing as he approached. "It's good to see you again. Shall we go in?" When they were let in, he was gesture her forward first. "After you."

Both Tara and Warren would be let in. Though Hadrian’s frustration with Captain Woodwick still lingered, he was a professional and knew better than to let it show. He stood and greeted Tara with a broad smile and a dip of his head and Warren with a curt nod. The soon-to-be governor's extravagant, arguably scandalous, dress did not escape his attention—he was only a man, after all. He invited the both to sit.
“You’ve likely heard, my lady, but in any case, I’d like to officially inform you: Captain Woodwick here will be leading the troop transition in Cambria and ensuring your transfer to governorship goes smoothly. I have every confidence you both will work well together.”
That wasn’t entirely true, but that was coming more from a place of sourness on Hadrian’s part than anything else. He paused to see whether the princess had comments or concerns.

Captain Thick Woodwick, Odina had a sultry smile hidden in her eyes but only a pleasant smirk on her face for the Captain to see as she entered the Commanders office, she still wondered why he was joining them and figured all would be answered soon enough.
After sitting the Commander shared his very interesting news, Odina took a long glance at Woodwick gesturing a smile, "Congratulations Captain on the position," then she returned her attention to Commander Usher, "That is a good choice Commander, fully supported," Vekka would both agree and be a litte jealous, "I assume the removal of Isolde will take place before my instalation? What's the plan for approach?"
"Thank you, my lady," Warren replied with a nod. He'd almost forgotten that he hadn't spoken with the Princess since before his promotion, but everything had been a little...hectic, since then. And now that he was seeing her for the first time since, it hardly felt appropriate to be congratulated when he was now on probation.
He would say little more for now, only nodding agreement that he would have no issues working with Odina to accomplish the task.

Hadrian’s face didn’t change. He was, without question, a nationalist of his kingdom. Odina may be a princess by birth, but she was a Cambrian by nurture. Even if she now claimed her motherland’s heritage, she had yet to prove her loyalty and so—as far as Hadrian was concerned—was a foreigner.
“There will be no obstacles to your instillation; we will take care of Isolde. Her sycophants are not the majority, but they are a zealous few. They are even more of a concern than she. Careful arrangements will be made to ensure your safety. As for the rest…” Hadrian paused, “The task ahead of you, governor, is to see Cambria’s culture is steered toward civility. Isolde has been unhelpful in this regard, and it is my hope that your attachment to this kingdom will have you playing a different role. Now this process can be gentle or one of difficulty; I believe that entirely depends on you. For either way—it will be seen through.” Hadrian paused, leaning forward, hands folded on the desk.
“Are you with us, your highness? Can we count on your support?”

Odina nodded looking over the Commanders face, he wasn't being hurtful but she could sense perhaps doubt? Maybe he didn't see her as a Princess at all. Either way, "I'm with my nephew and his kingdom Commander, I'll prove myself and together we'll reign Cambria in so yes you'll have my support. You have it now," and they did. Ever since the day she met Cassian and confessed to him her intentions of revenge the moment he gave her a choice of courses; she had been in support of him. All the things she's learned and the she taught and given have been beneficial, for her and for the girls.
"I look forward to working with you Commander and Captain."

Hadrian nodded once, taking her at her word (though trust but verify was the phrase that came to mind). He supposed what happened next would do a lot to determine how deep that loyalty ran.
“I’m glad to hear it,” Hadrian said, lightening up a little to assume a casual, friendly demeanor, “We hope to bring the women of Cambria to the same place you’ve arrived, my lady. We want them all to understand Nevermere’s value as you do. Your daughters, for example, have taken to our ways very quickly. Children are resilient; eager to embrace new ideas in a way adults are not.” He paused and smiled. “Do you not agree?”

Her head tilted to the right and Ellis blue eyes stared at the Commander for a bit as she processed his words: he wanted to bring the daughters of Cambria to Nevermere. She was taken back for a moment as she looked between Hadrian and Warren was this going to be her purpose? Re-education of Cambrian girls?
"I do agree Commander," she answered slowly, "Is this opportunity you speak of simply for the children or do we plan to bring every woman of Cambria here?"
Warren hadn't been surprised by Odina's promise to stand with Nevermere. He hadn't spoken with her much on a personal basis, but what little he had, she had seemed amiable toward Nevermerans. If she was at all bitter about what had happened to her family, Warren hadn't seen any indication of it.
But she had seemingly picked up on the Commander's more subtle expression. Warren hadn't thought that Hadrian planned to tell her about bringing the children over to Nevermere just yet. Still, she didn't seem entirely opposed, though it had taken her a few seconds to reply.
Warren wouldn't interject. He was curious about how this would go. It had been a shocking piece of information to him as well, but ultimately all that was expected of Warren was for him to follow orders. If Odina rejected the idea, what would the Commander do?

Hadrian smiled good-naturedly, a slight wrinkle forming in his brow. He had aid nothing about bringing the daughters of Cambria to Nevermere—though that was the ultimate aim. Odina’s leap to a conclusion happened to be the right one, but that didn’t mean he was going to acknowledge it as such.
“Governor, forgive me, but there's been a misunderstanding," He said, with honest confusion, “At present, I am hoping only to start a conversation. We have a common goal, it would seem. You see value in Nevermere’s ways—I wish your sisters to see the same. I now seek your perspective in how this might be done,” He tipped his head, “You are the expert after all.”

"If I were to do it, Commander, and by doing it being influencing Nevermere values upon Cambria I would bring the values to Cambria," she paused hoping what she said made sense but continued with further explanation, "You can take the Cambrian out of Cambria but you can't take the Cambria out of the Cambrian if you know what I mean Commander...I would push for our culture to begin mingling further, bring our people, not just our militant but our commoners and our nobles to Cambria establish lives there. If that is to wild then bring our military values there: bring the instructors. Bring the teachers. Educate their daughters and put them through the structure and order our great armies go through daily..."
Warren listened, but he still didn't say anything. Hadrian's recovery was smooth, which in turn almost made it seem like the whole thing was Odina's idea to begin with. He couldn't deny that Odina's plan seemed a more reasonable one, one less likely to spur the rage of every woman in Cambria. He just wasn't sure if that would be good enough for the Captain Commander, or the King.

Hadrian listened with proper attention, gazed fixed intently on Odina as he occasionally nodded. When she finished, he inclined his head in acknowledgment, waiting a moment before responding.
“Respectfully, princess, these last years have been an opportunity for cultural exchange that many Cambrians have chosen to opt out of. Mingling, intermarriage—ways that our cultures could become one, some have actively tried to sabotage.” There was one name that sat at the center of it all, but Hadrian didn’t think that he needed to specify who. Hadrian thought for a moment.
“Perhaps a balance could be reached? Here, it is not uncommon for witches to receive further schooling while living among other young ladies and not with their families—not that their parents do not see them with frequency, of course.” He tilted his head. “Maybe something similar could be within Cambria?”

"Yes here it is common," Odina partially agreed, "women have had years and years to sort through such things, my only fear is that if we boldy start the same process of taking the daughters of Cambrians away from their homes we could inadvertently cause actual problems," truthfully she knew it would cause problems, "A middle ground still must be met yes, at least for a little while until we can truly stabilize Cambria as our Kings territory. I still believe if we bring Nevermere to Cambria for a small period of transition then a time will come to pass where we can achieve the goal of a trade....either way Commander I am behind you and my nephew, the Captain and I will see to whatever you deem worthy for the future of bringing Cambria under heel."
