The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Change in how times flows. Was 4 IC seasons, now only 2 IC seasons per 1 OOC year.
5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
There was little Warren could say when the Commander had already made his intentions clear. Because of that, this seemed less like a conversation and more like placation. He was introducing the idea to Odina, making her believe that she had some say in it. In the end, though, whatever he and the King decided was what would happen. No matter what the Princess, Warren, or anyone else thought.
"Of course," Warren agreed with only the very end of Odina's statement. "Whatever is decided, I will work alongside the Princess to help see to it that it's implemented smoothly."

Hadrian nodded, appearing pleased (how he really felt remained a mystery to all present, even himself).
“No doubt your knowledge of Cambria will continue to prove as useful as it already has,” the commander said, smiling amiably, “We will proceed with caution, but I do believe that with your leadership, we will be able to thread this needle. For I do believe it a necessary one, princess. For now, I trust we can keep this matter to the side and focus on the transition of power.”
Though Hadrian did not know the specifics of how that was to occur. Isolde was a nuisance, he thought, not someone who had turned her wrath against her own people.
“I appreciate your time, princess,” Hadrian stood, dipping his head to signal the meeting had come to a close, “You are in capable hands. If you need anything, no doubt Captain Woodwick will be able to provide it.”

"The pleasure is mine Commander," she vowed graciously standing, "I have a lot of faith in Captain Woodwick, and we will overcome any hurdle," a bow to both men, "I do implore you to speak with my nephew about this Commander, we all just want what's best for Nevermere and it's territories in all the grand scheme of things...gentlemen if there is nothing further I have things to gather."
Warren nodded toward the Commander, and then to Odina, when they spoke of the aid he could or would provide the Princess. Although he hadn't been fully involved in the conversation, that was one thing they could all agree on. He would be there to see it through, no matter what happened.
As she stood, Warren did as well. He stepped toward the door before she could get there and opened it for her, giving her a bow in return. Assuming Hadrian had nothing further for her, he'd allow her out the door and a few steps down the hall before he turned back to face his superior. "Is there anything further, Commander Usher?"

“No, you’re dismissed,” Hadrian said to Warren without looking at him before dipping his head politely toward Odina. “I have the utmost confidence in you, princess, as does your nephew. No doubt you will serve your kingdom well.”
Hadrian would wait for both of them to exit before sitting back down at his desk. Change was coming. While Odina’s advice would certainly be taken into account, the reality was that things were coming that she might not like. But that was the reality of service, what separated the pretenders from true stewards of the kingdom.
So, was Odina a pretender or not? That, Hadrian had yet to decide.
