The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Ben laughed, delighted with her banter. "Is that so? You fight dirty? I'll have to keep that in mind," he teased her back. "Yes, I'm a Royal Guard so I'm around, just not usually with the other soldiers," he explained. "I hear they are switching out troops soon in Cambria and Coheed. Are you staying here or leaving?" he asked curiously.
The song ended and shifted into something slower. Ben automatically shifted his dancing to match but didn't fully register that they had switched songs and it was polite to either ask for another dance or let the lady go. Instead he just kept moving, happily engaged in their conversation.

"Oh yes, I very dirty when it come to fighting. There no holding me back when I start." It was unlike her to banter. but she was just having fun. "I knew I recognised your face when you sat in front of me, but wasn't sure." She couldn't help but laugh when he asked if she was leaving or staying. "I am setting off soon. First time out of Nevermere." first time out at sea, first time away from the place she called him. She was doing her duty, just like everybody else.
When the song slow down, she didn't make any attempt to step away. Maybe worried if she stopped dancing, nobody else wants to dance with her but it was surprising that Ben still wanted to dance with her and that she wasn't boring him. "What is it like being a royal guard?"

"Well congratulations," he replied when she mentioned it was also her first time out of Nevermere. "I hope you love it. And since you'll be leaving soon, we'll just have to make the most of tonight then, won't we?" he said with a grin.
They continued to dance and she asked him more about his job. "Mostly it's pretty uneventful, standing around and keeping an eye on the royal family, but I get to be witness to some big meetings between kingdoms and I've traveled to almost all of them at this point, however briefly," he said proudly. He liked what he did and usually enjoyed it.

Zarha couldn't help but laugh when h explained that they should make the most of the night. As Benedict is mostly the only guy who is willing to talk to her, who isn't superior to her. In a way he is a King's guard, it's a pretty important role and not everybody is et a chance to be a guard to the royal family. To get that position most of them did something impressive or have a good name or both. "That is my plan to make this a night to remember." A cheeky smile on Zarha's face.
Listening as they danced to the music in the background. Not really paying much attention to the music playing but more to the man in front of her as he spoke. "I wouldn't be able to stand around all day. I am the short of girl that love to keep moving." Givng a soft wink. However, in all fairness, being considered a kings guard would be a honour in it's own right. In Zarha's mind she would rather run around doing laps and doing patrols in the streets serving the people. Serve the country that way than stand around.

"Standing around like that can definitely be challenging, yes," Ben agreed. For more reason than one but he didn't feel like it was much fun to talk about work so instead he changed the subject. "Do you have any hobbies? What do you in your free time?" he asked, enjoying the dance with her.

When Ben changed the subject, Zarha felt a bit silly. Of course, people would change the subject, It is the one thing she knows she can talk about without sounding stupid, without sounding silly. So when Ben asked her what her hobbies are, she really had to think about it. All she does is train and train and then train some more on top. "I am sure you do more interesting stuff in your free time?" Zarha tried to take the candlelight off her.

Ben noticed that she didn't particularly want to answer which was fine with him, he wasn't one to pry. He was about to say something in response when a rather drunk gentleman they hadn't noticed, being too focused on each other, bumped into them and doused them both with nearly a full mug of ale.
"Oy!!!" Ben said, stepping back and shaking ale off his arms before shoving the guy out of the way. "Watch it!" The man was far too drunk to hardly even notice the shove and stumbled back towards the tables while his friends hurried to get him sitting down in a chair. Ben turned back to Zarha. "Damn, are you alright?" Their clothes were both wet and sticky as they both now smelled like they were nearly as drunk as the man who'd run into them.

Ben thankfully refrained from asking about her hobbies, and Zarha was relieved. She wasn't quite sure how to respond, as her hobbies mainly consisted of work-related activities. She didn't want to come off as boring or give the impression that her life solely revolved around her job.
As they continued their conversation, their attention was abruptly diverted to a drunk man who had accidentally spilt ale all over them, completely ruining Zarha's expensive dress, well expensive for her as she normally doesn't buy dresses. She was devastated, knowing that she couldn't afford to have it cleaned and didn't have the time to clean it herself.
Despite Ben's attempts to confront the man, Zarha placed a comforting hand on his arm, gently urging him to let it go. "It's not worth it," she said softly, offering him a reassuring smile.
Chuckling slightly, Zarha tried to make light of the situation. "It's just some ale," she said, "I'll survive. Are you okay?"

Ben felt bad that the night had taken a turn though Zarha had tried to assure him she was fine. He waved off her question as she returned it. “Oh, I’m fine. But it’s gonna be rather uncomfortable to stay like this. Maybe I ought to just head home…” he began when another idea struck him.
“Or we could grab a room upstairs and get cleaned up real quick…” he asked with the hint of a flirty smile on his lips.

When Ben suggested that he should go home she was slightly upset that a good night with the cute company was ruined by a drunken man. However, when the suggestion of getting room to dry off with a flirty smile, she bit her lower lip. She isn't one to get wild, she hardly knows the man she has been dancing with and it is risky. More risky for her than for him.
"Well the last thing I want you to be is uncomfortable but I've been enjoying your company." She didn't want this night to end, plus it might give a chance for her dress to dry out and have a chance to figure out how bad the dress is. If it is something she can safe.

Ben smiled at her though his expression was reassuring as well. He had no intention of taking advantage of her if it wasn’t something she wanted. “Wait here,” he told her and moved back to the bar to ask for a room.
Transaction complete, he tucked the key into his pocket and returned to the beautiful soldier. He took her hand in his and led her through the crowded room. “This way,” he said, fingers curled around hers so they wouldn’t be separated.
They soon made their way to the stairs and headed up the rooms. He pulled out his key and checked the number on the key. 5. He found the corresponding door and unlocked it. “Ladies first,” he said, allowing her to move into the room before he did.

Zarha smiled softly as she waited for Ben to come back, trying to keep an eye on him through the crowd. She also kept an eye of the room around her, she didn't want any more drunken people walking into her and spilling anything more down her. However, she thankfully didn't have to wait long till Ben was back and taking her hand in his. intertwining their fingers together.
Following him upstairs and to room five, when he called her a lady she blushed. She wasn't a person of noble status, she only know the basic of politics. The last time she saw the king was at the ball. The only time she interacts with nobility is in military situation. However being called lady from him felt nice. "what a gentlemen." Zarha teased as she walked into the room and looked around.
It was a decent size room with a double bed, which looks nicer then what she is used to at home. Having to share with her two sisters can be a bit uncomfortable at times. There was two chair and a table. It wasn't fancy, but for her this was stunning. When she realise she was alone in a room with a man, she blushed even more. "This is the first time I've been alone with a man." She doesn't know what to do she never undressed in front of anyone before

Ben entered the room after it and closed it behind them but didn’t lock it. It was nice enough. It would do the job anyway. He chuckled a little at her comment, sensing she was a little nervous.
“What about your dad? Brother? Fellow soldiers?” He asked. Surely she’d been in a room alone with someone in her life. He moved to where a couple of cheap robes were hanging and took one off the hanger to hand it to her.
“Here, you can chance into this while we get out of these sticky clothes,” he said, handing it to her. He then proceeded to take off his shirt, exposing all the toned muscles of his training. But his gaze wasn’t on Zarha. He moved to a basin and filled it with a jug of water and grabbed a bar of soap as he dipped his shirt into and began rubbing at the ale stains.
“Just hand me your dress when you’re ready, I’ve done this more times than I can count,” he said with a little chuckle.

"Big family so I was never truly alone. There was always at least a couple of people around." Plus with her father and mother away as much as there were when she was growing up, it wasn't something she thought about. With fellow soldiers, there was always another person within the room, so most of the time the other person was distracted to even notice that she was there.
When Ben offered her a robe to change into she was grateful. "Thanks." She takes the robe on as she noticed then Ben took off his shirt showing his toned muscle. Once she noticed she looked away and focused on taking her dress off well she tries to cover herself with the robe till the dress was off. Once it was on she quickly put the robe on.
Laughing at his comment "Well I am intrigued now." She smirked as she passed her dress to him. The dress wasn't like super high fashion, the latest dress for a noble lady but for a commoner it was on the 'I saved up for this one nice dress.' sort of dress. She walked over to one of the chairs and sits on them as she looked towards him.

He accepted her dress with a smile, putting it aside for a moment as she settled herself over on a chair. Once done with his shirt he rinsed all the soap and then rung it out before hanging it over the canopy of the bed. "Not sure what there is to tell, other than that I frequent taverns quite often and when you do that there are all sorts of messes that often need to be cleaned up," he said with a chuckle. He left out that it was his wife's dress that he had to clean most often as far as company went.
He took her dress from where he laid it and began the same process. Carefully moving the soap over where the ale rested in the fabric and carefully washing it out. "It'll be good as new by the time we're through," he promised with a grin, glancing over at her briefly before returning to his task.
