The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

[ Made for any and all Eldouirs. Directly follows attacking AF. Open also to @xanthe if ya like. General Eldouir warning; join thread at your own risk. No post order but don’t run away with the thread. Can count as gathering, family, etc etc ]
They always went back home after battle. Always. With the task complete and smiles on their faces, the redheads returned in various states of bloodiness and gleefulness.
Hiram teleported everyone back home. Everyone except for Myla and Elena, who were nowhere to be found. That is, he knew exactly where they were, as reaching for their familiar blood had pinpointed their locations…but he played the fool. Sometimes better the fool than the devil.
A feast awaited them. The children lined the halls with awe in their eyes as the warriors of the family returned. There was no great expectation for what any of them might do next. Some would go sleep. Some would make loud use of their beds.
Hiram ate. Using magic made him hungry. Being angry made him hungry. He didn’t always know how to handle situations, and trying to think like someone who planned more made him hangry.
So he shoved angrily at a table and ripped into a drumstick, glowering golden gaze set somewhere distant.
They had returned with less of them than they had left with. It seemed Myla and Elena had taken it upon themselves to do as they wished, and had run off for even more fun. She refused to admit what she felt about the older women not including her in their fun. She knew she was not Myla's favorite, but she had thought her and Elena had become good friends.
Needless to say, it had put her in a sour mood. She had called for @xanthe upon returning home to run her a bath so she could clean the blood and filth from herself and then seek out food to fill her empty stomach.
Leaving Xanthe to clean up whatever mess she left behind in the wash room, she told the girl to join her in the dining room after she was done. In her own twisted way, she had begun to see Xanthe as a kind of friend. After all, she was the only one who was always around to speak to.
Trudging into the dining hall, she spotted Hiram who looked just as moody as she, and deciding to tempt fate she slid into a chair across from him and also began ripping into the food in front of her.

Azazel on the other hand couldn't have been in a better mood. He didn't care where Myla and Elena had gone, instead he was filled with the adrenaline of their first big battle in ages. He'd finally been able to be truly let loose and cause as much destruction as possible. His only regret? Not killing more Arynnites. But that had not been the task at hand and he had remained focused on destroying the wall before those weak, silly little Arynnites could manage to gather themselves enough to stop them. The fact that they had failed was a delight in and of itself.
He whooped as he entered the dining room and when he didn't spot his sister, @yeva, right away, his gaze fell upon @adeline. Not picking up the notes of how moody she and Hiram were, he moved behind her and grabbed the back of her chair as he playfully tugged it backwards with her still in it until it was balancing on the two back legs and he was looking down at her upside down. With a mischievous grin he pressed a hard but brief kiss to her lips, his nose touching her chin. "Excellent work at the wall, your Majesty," he said. "I heard you were rather formidable out there. Only a shame I didn't get to see it."
With that he'd move her chair back to where it was unless she acted otherwise in the time in between.

It had taken Xanthe some time to realize that they were even gone. Once she had realized it, she'd become nervous. Even if the Eldouir were no where to be found, their soldiers kept a close eye on everything. Xanthe couldn't go sneaking out every time she had the chance. As much as she wanted to see Embric, Aine, and Kasni, doing so would only put them at risk.
So instead, she worked. And waited. And when they finally returned, everything felt...heavier. Adeline had called for her and seemed to be in foul mood, though Xanthe didn't know why. She did as the Queen asked - quickly fixing her a bath. That she had to rinse blood from her skin was telling enough of what had happened while they were gone.
Then she dressed and made her exit, insisting Xanthe follow after cleaning up. She stood in the bathing room and tried to keep her composure. It shouldn't have been so jarring, and it was likely that eventually Adeline would tell Xanthe what happened. Still, the imagination ran wild and all Xanthe could picture was a plague of atrocities.
It didn't take her too long to drain the tub, wipe it clean, and dry the floors around it. Once it was all taken care of, she took a moment to clean herself up, too. When she finished, she did as she was bid, and headed for the dining room. Much to her dismay, @adeline was not there alone. Hiram Eldouir was there as well, and another redhead that Xanthe hadn't met yet. With her eyes cast to the floor, and Savi keeping closer at her heels, she approached to the side of Adeline's chair. "Is there anything I can get you, my Queen?" She asked quietly, before quickly moving out of the way so that the unfamiliar Azazel Eldouir could jostle her chair. Xanthe had never seen anyone treat Adeline that way. She stood, half-surprised, half-horrified, and stared at the floor once more.
Adeline was about to turn and tell Xanthe to simply take a seat. After all, it was the presence of a companion Adeline craved most in this moment, but then Azazel Eldouir was waltzing into the dining hall. A squeak ripped from her lips as he tipped her chair back and she was suddenly looking up at him, the gleam in her eyes promising death if he didn't release her chair.
But Azazel seemed completely oblivious to her ire and instead pressed a kiss to her lips. It might have been his biggest mistake yet, if he hadn't followed it up with praise. With a few blinks, and her hackles smoothed down by the kinder words, Adeline sniffed as he pushed her chair back into place and said, "I suppose you didn't do too bad yourself, Lava Man."
Her eyes flicked briefly to Hiram before she turned to Xanthe finally, "Sit and eat, Xanthe. I trust nothing went astray while we were away?"
Yeva was a grinning little devil as she almost skipped into the dining room. While she didn't have the multitude of limbs out that she'd had earlier, there were still a couple extra arms as well as the stumps from where the soldiers had managed to slice off a few limbs. Not that it hindered her, since she'd made skin grow over to stop the bleeding. She'd reabsorb them eventually but she was hungry and she wanted her brother.
The moment she spotted Azazel Eldouir, she was grinning and made a bee-line straight for him.
The words rang in Xanthe's ears and caught in her throat. She was supposed to sit with them? Eat with them? She'd done so with Adeline plenty of times, but with other family members present, it was different. She couldn't disobey Adeline, but she didn't know if the others would find her presence there welcomed, either.
Hesitantly, she pulled out the chair next to @adeline and sat down in it. Stay by my feet, Savi. Don't move out from under the table. She told her dyr. Out of sight, out of mind, or so she hoped. The Maned Wolf crept underneath and laid down, his head by Xanthe's feet. This all made her nervous, but Savi, at least, was much calmer.
Once sat, she reached to pull a few small things onto her plate. She didn't want to appear greedy, but the Queen had ordered her to eat. "No, your majesty, everything continued on as normal. Nothing of note happened." The sight of the newly entering Eldouir drew Xanthe's attention. Her eyes, wide as they could be, sat focused on @yeva for far too long while trying to comprehend what she was seeing. The girl had far more limbs than she ought to, and other parts that didn't look quite right. Quickly, Xanthe looked back down at her plate, her hands rested in her lap.

'Lava Man'. He liked that and grinned at @adeline before he moved to step away. He spotted @xanthe then as the Queen addressed her and he gave her a cheeky grin before making a chomping action, his teeth clacking together. But he made no further move towards the dresmondi, possibly because he was distracted as his sister entered the room.
He beamed at the sight of her, looking all perfectly creepy with her extra limbs but before she reached him he saw that there was damage there too and his smile instantly faded as his anger flared up. "They hurt you," he said with a growl as @yeva reached him.
Adeline only smirked in Azazel Eldouir's direction as he accepted her nickname before turning back to stuff another bite of food into her mouth. "That's good," she spoke around the food in her mouth. "I'm far too tired to have to hand out punishments."
So tired, in fact, that when @yeva walked in with all of her extra and even half chopped off limbs, all Adeline could muster was a roll of her eyes. "Show off," she mumbled before draining an entire glass of wine.

Hiram remained only vaguely aware of the bodies and conversations around him. It didn't take him long to come to a conclusion. He' been overthinking this, and with time and food his wits were reigned it and his mind was able to sit back into the comfortable place it normally occupied.
After a hard swallow, he spoke, and his voice carried loudly enough to draw the attention of most in the hall.
"Tonight we celebrate." His golden gaze flickered over @adeline and Azazel Eldouir, then past them to Drystan and then others. "Tomorrow, we take a trip back to where our family began." A smile followe his words, one that promised mischief and malice. Now, whether tomorrow was literal or if Hiram simply meant "next" was yet to be discovered. They would simply have to spend tonight and then wait with anticipation and see. Regardless, the trajectory of the family was clear: they were going to be going back to Lorendale.
Xanthe watched as @adeline downed the glass of wine. The rest of them seemed to be happy with the success of...whatever had happened during their excursion. The Queen she'd come to know, though, just seemed tired and irritated.
She wouldn't speak unless spoken to. Instead, she nibbled on her food and her eyes bounced back and forth between all of the Eldouir sitting at the table. When Hiram Eldouir spoke up, she immediately put her food, and head, down. It felt odd enough to be sitting among them at the table, but even stranger to be there while he was addressing his family. It would have been one thing to be standing against the wall, waiting for Adeline's call. It was another entirely to feel somehow involved.
A trip to where their family began. Adeline had mentioned the place multiple times. Loren. She wanted to go home, and maybe Hiram was finally giving it to her. But what did that mean for the Dresmondi? How long would they be gone this time? Only after he had finished speaking did Xanthe raise her eyes just enough to see the reaction of the others.

Unlike many of his family members, Azazel quite liked Dresmond. He had only been about fourteen when they had left and Dresmond had allowed him to do basically whatever the hell he wanted without any consequences. Yet, even so, he had to admit he was excited for this trip. He wasn't sure what it would bring or why Hiram wanted to go back but he was here for the adventure.
He slammed his fists heavily on the table and shouted out a loud and aggressive. "YEAHHH!!!" before grabbing the nearest drink and downing it all in one go.
