The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Othello hadn't forgotten his apology tour, briefly put on hold for his mission out of kingdom, one person he owed an apology to was deployed she'd get a proper sorry when she returned but he had learned Aldrich was still around. Elletta had informed Othello of the very harsh words to Abbott and Zarha, if he made amends with Regan and Elletta and Kat the Champion owed it to them. Even if forgiveness wasn't returned.
The Van Zants were watching Benji (per Kats offer) for a whole, Othello had sent word around that he was requesting a drink with Abbott at the Sour Sailboat all drinks on Othello. So here he sat, waiting.

Aldrich had been a bit surprised to receive an invitation to go for a drink with Othello.
I am is a FUCKIN' WEAPON! Nothing fuckin' more or less, not a sparring buddy, not a friend, or gods damn drinking buddy. These were about the last words he had heard from Othello before Aldrich had turned his back on the situation. He had cleared up what had happened that evening with @elletta, and she had admitted to having a crush on the Champion. He certainly hadn't expected that from their conversation, but the Lieutenant was simply glad that there was no bad blood between him and Elletta.
And apparently Othello had changed his mind about not being a drinking buddy. The newly engaged man had gotten ready and left his home to go to the Sour Sailboat. He hadn't had to think about the invitation: he was curious to hear what Othello had to say, or perhaps what he wanted. The fact that the drinks were on him was simply a nice addition to the whole thing.
Aldrich walked in the tavern and looked around, quickly finding Othello sitting there. He made his way over to the Lorendaler and nodded at him. "Othello", he said, in a neutral way. He didn't know why Othello wanted to see him, but he had a general idea. He had heard that the man had gone in an apology tour.

Othello kicked a seat out for Abbott, "pleasant days and even longer nights Abbott, please sit," there was a bottle of whiskey on the table (no glasses) Othello offered the bottle to Abbott, "I'm going to speak first and I'll open the floor, first I want to apologize for the shit show that I hosted and my actions so forthrightly after...I was in a bad place drinking all day and that night, Haider didn't hesitate to put me in my place about how I spoke to the three of you. I acted like a child, so let's be drinking buddies? I'll drink moderately of course, I was never one for drinking, can't handle it as you've seen..."

There was no point in going against Othello's wishes, so Aldrich just sat down and allowed the Lorendaler to speak without interrupting him. He appreciated the apology and listened to how Othello had experienced the evening.
He made a deep, approving sound and nodded, lifting the bottle and taking a sip of the whiskey. "It's all good, Othello", he then said. "And Haider's a good kid. She was really worried about you that evening. I told her and Sliva to back off and leave me to deal with you, but she didn't listen because she wanted to know you were going to be okay." He didn't mention that he knew the young woman had a crush on Othello. It wasn't his place. "Did ya talk to her, then?"

Othello sat back pleased in the acceptance of his apology, he might have even sighed but he for sure took a hearty drink.
"Aye I did, and Lassiter and Kat...just didn't get to Sliva yet because she was deployed to Coheed," Othello replied, "It won't happen again, to many people in this kingdom hate each other and I didn't know I'd put them all in one place."

Aldrich leaned back and placed a hand on his stomach, trying to relax a bit. "Man, if you ask me, you didn't do anything wrong, so don't worry about all those apologies. I mean, I appreciate it, 'cause you were a bit aggressive out on the street back there, but during the party?" He shook his head and took another sip after taking the bottle from Othello. "You tried to give Lassiter a nice surprise. She's just difficult is all."

"This whole place is fucking difficult...I don't fit in here, do you know what happens when I get bored Abbott?" he was gripping his hands into tight fists, "I get chaotic....which is why if something happens to me, can you find Benji a home? A place with a nice family...possibly the Van Zants."

"How did you end up here, Othello?" he asked. If Othello wouldn't answer the question, so be it, but the conversation seemed to be open and honest, so Aldrich asked an open and honest question. How did a Lorendaler end up in Nevermere, through Coheed?
"I will", he responded. "I'll make sure he finds a home."

With Abbott confirming to take care of Benji Othello dived into his long long journey: he started with the Allemeade family dynamic and how the Eldouir betrayed their own kind to be bootlicking dogs to the Lorendale crown, how his conception was out of scandal that his Mother wasn't Gifted so it was easy for his Uncles to keep her until he was born. How they casted her away like trash because she wasn't like them (he reminisced how he and his Mother shared such a trait), where she disappeared after a Coheed attack and was never seen again.
He amused about being a late bloomer with his Gift, how Uncle Bayard left his family to follow Prince Julius to Nevermere and how Uncle Marek got rid of a non-gifted Othello the second he was rebellious. Othello talked about how shortly after his Gift manifested and how he took to the seas as a Pirate, when he was Captain 'Devil-Anse' of the Crimson Rose he laughed about all the raiding of ships especially those of Arynn Frey buckled under his Gift.
Then the collars came off in Lorendale and the Allemeade family emerged from there hiding, he told Abbott how he thought it was a good idea to go home. However fate had other plans; a storm wrecked them on the shores of Cambria where a waiting party greeted them the next day. Reflecting on how their leader gave him and his men a chance to run to the borders of Coheed, how he defended himself against two blonde women (how he cute the big girl down with her own blade; he told him about the other blonde the possible sister and how she wailed at him before holding a long grudge that supposedly still lingered). Then he explained the trek through Coheed with a Cambrian outcast. Here was where he changed details: he reached the border of Lorendale and was intercepted by the Eldouir who took him prisoner...for seasons and seasons before turning him over to the Crown. He was collared and put on palace arrest.
More time passed until King Cassian teamed him up with a cousin to rescue someone from the Eldouir. He told him how he came up with he plan to beat his cousin into a bloody pulp and feign for help with he Eldouir, only for Hiram to shut them out...so Othello admitted he took the collar ring off Remi...stole a gate of metal which he formed into a bal around himself...and flew to Coheed. How he hid there for years right under everyone's nose until the festival where his powers slipped...Nevermere dock fuck up....to where he as today. How the King told him of his purpose...how he did what he did with Regan. How bored he as growing just being idle...

Aldrich didn't speak a word while Othello was telling his story. He didn't like to admit it, but he was extremely impressed by everything Othello had done, endured and managed to achieve. Of course there were things he had his doubts about, and of course there were things he didn't necessarily agree with, but he had asked to hear the story and he hadn't done so with the intention of judging the man in front of him.
The lieutenant passed Othello the bottle of whiskey once he finished his story. Aldrich sure needed a sip of alcohol after this whole story, so he could only assume Othello felt the same way.
Aldrich whistled softly. "That's quite the life you've had so far", he said, secretly feeling a bit jealous. He had been outside of Nevermere for military purposes, but that didn't even begin to compare to fleeing and voluntarily traveling.
The story also contained elements that Aldrich had heard of, but didn't know much about. The story had taught him more about the Eldouir and the Gifted than he had known about before. "I understand that you're bored, and I wish I could say something that would help, but I can't. Regan is probably the most exciting aspect in the military here, because she's unconventional." He chuckled. "Maybe you ought to train with the witches more often, they're unpredictable once they start using their magic on ya."

"yeah, yeah maybe I should," Othello deflated and drank once again heavily from the shared bottle he felt his face numbing so he slide the bottle back to Abbott, "what about you Abbott? You got any exciting life events worth sharing..."
Post by Aldrich Abbott on Aug 11, 2023 15:08:54 GMT -5
He accepted the bottle but put it in the middle of the table. He'd had enough sips for now. He hadn't expected Othello to return the question, so he chuckled dryly. Not because he was annoyed by Othello asking about his life, but because he did have things to share, just... "Not much worth sharing, I'm afraid, but I'll bore ya with it", he responded.
So Aldrich started explaining that he was the third son, and that his father had been a soldier as well. He had basically been raised to become a soldier, and that's what he was. He also told him that his father died in the war against Coheed, and that his mother died shortly after because of a broken heart.
He then smirked. He added a little more about the time he had been in Coheed, but nothing special had really happened during that time.
"The most exciting thing in my life has been women... But only one of them turned out to be able to handle me." He said it in a joking manner, but at the same time he truly believed that the others weren't able to handle him.
"I'm engaged to her now, but we've been through a lot. You seem to know about difficult women, so I'm sure you can relate." Elletta wasn't an easy person either. "She fucked my brother while I was in Coheed. He and I still aren't really the best of friends now." Aldrich laughed to show it wasn't as deep as he made it sound.
"But yeah, pretty boring compared to you, my friend."
