The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Noah was on one of his longer shifts a benefit to his background was his already established medical background, he'd turned out to be a strong thoughtful instructor with a deep well of knowledge. He was restocking a field surgeon bag when a nurse approached him, "Private, we getting a flux in patients today, training accidents, do care to help a little? Nothing super serious mostly happy accidents but nothing serious," Noah smiled and nodded, "Yes ma'am of course, long shifts go by slow so anything to help and occupy some time," the nurse handed Noah three transcripts of parchment, "Good, thank you Noah, most of these patients have detailed their aliments but a fourth just came in from a training accident could you see him first room two?"
"Right away," Noah tucked his work assignments under his arm and made for room two, he paused to knock before pressing in.

It wasn't serious really, a mere sprain if anything, he was mostly sure. He'd been out training, which usually went very well, but one wrong move could take down even the most skilled soldier. Ben never claimed he was the best. He was good, don't get him wrong, but didn't claim to be better than some of the other soldiers he worked with. Solidly in the middle. Good enough to do his job well, which was the most important part.
Cradling his arm against his chest he made his way to the medics to get his wrist looked at. He was ushered into a room and there he sat to wait. He was expecting he'd have to sit here for quite a while so he was surprised when the wait wasn't overly long. He was even more surprised, and delighted, when the man who walked in was absolutely delectable. Well wasn't this a treat? Even if all he got to do was look at him for the next few minutes.
"Hey there, doc," Ben said with a handsome smile. "I have to give it to ya, I thought I'd be here for at least an hour before I saw anyone. Seems like a busy day."
Noah entered a kind smile on his face, once he saw the man that smile seemed to reach his eyes a light glistening even, "Well you might want to look at it this way then soldier, it is busy and I'm new...in a sense...they asked me to help, last minute help...from the surgeon," he tried to sound menacing holding a playful smile. Noah looked at the man holding his arm close to him, "let's see what intake has for me, I'm Noah by the way I'll be taking care of you today," he flipped through his cases, sprain, Delaney, "Lord Delaney," Noah looked over the the top of the information, "Benedict, sprain, gotcha....can I see it, gotta know if it needs to come off," oh goddess be he wished he could shut up as he offered his large but steady and strong hands, "I'm kidding, just want to guage the extent of your injury...pain you're in scale of one to ten...and what happened?"

Just looking at the cute surgeon made it easy for Ben to forget the pain he was in. The sound of his voice helped too honestly. “No way you’re a surgeon,” Ben replied with teasing unbelief in his voice. “Far too young for that.” They really must be busy though if they had brought in a surgeon to help with something like this.
“It’s my utmost delight to meet you, Surgeon Noah,” he purred the man’s name. He would have introduced himself and had even parted his lips to do so when the man called him my his title and surname. Lord Delaney. He hoped that at least Noah would remember that Delaney’s were a military family and his first assumption of Ben wasn’t a prissy little noble who couldn’t handle himself.
His eyes did briefly widen when the surgeon mentioned cutting it off though but breathed a sigh of relief and offered a little chuckle when Noah assured him he was joking. ”I was worried you might just be scalpel happy, Doc.”
He looked down at his injured arm and cautiously twisted it gently from side to side. ”Hmmm…maybe a four?” he replied, more a question than a straight answer as if Noah would be able to tell him if he were incorrect. ”Just a training fumble. Got my arm pinned under a solider’s back and I twisted it weird trying to pull it out rather than just waiting for them to move. Silly, I know.”
For some reason he really didn’t want Noah to see him like he was a pathetic little weakling man but convincing him otherwise wasn’t going very well.
As Noah went about his exam, gently and carefully, he couldn't help but keep a warm smile.
"I'll take that as a compliment Delaney, very young youngest surgeon in the medical branch too, youngest surgeon to have opened his own practice," Noah had to step closer, this Delaney had a warm presence and a warm body too, "so far nothing broke or tore, possibly hyperextended it common injury," he didn't have to go further up rubbing over strong arms and higher to the shoulder, "I don't see any reaction any further up the muscles aren't torn," they were strong and lean but he kept that to himself, "Ice will be your best remedy..."

"Impressive," Ben praised him with a more flirtatious tone, though he was also being honest. Such an accomplishment at a young age was very impressive indeed. Sure, Ben was skilled in combat but so were many others. Being a surgeon was a whole other level of skill that Ben could not begin to compare himself to.
As Noah's hands moved over his arm and shoulder, rubbing against the injury, Ben was far more distracted by the touch than by the ache beneath as he did so. He had a rather gentle touch, not causing unnecessary pain to the strain. He didn't want Noah to stop, it felt so nice and the man was standing so close. It was tempting to reach out and place his free hand against his hip but Ben bit his lip as he kept himself from doing so.
"Ice? Is that all? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm grateful. I just feel a bit ridiculous to waste your time for...ice," he said with a little chuckle.
"A waste of time? Hardly," Noah joked, he didn't shy away from much Noah was always very sure but boy did he toss a very 'what's up' smile (did this man just bite his lips?) before stepping away casting a little net, "My immediate skill thank the Goddess hasn't called for much heed so I am basically taking whatever of the load I can off the nurses and the other doctors, so I take care of bumps and sprains...laundry...and training," he smiled, "My Father keeps saying you have a duty to be a swordsman for the King, my steady hands are tools or weapons...," Noah was prattling, "blah blah, sorry. Okay well let's see you move it, put my hands where it hurts the most..."

What a charmingly cute smile he had. Ben was sure all the ladies were sure to swoon at such a man. He really was quite the catch after all. Very well educated and skilled in his craft and though Ben didn't know his surname he was pretty confident in his assumption that Noah was of noble birth given his general demeaner. Ben had spent his life around people both noble and common and over time you learned to pick up on the unintended subtleties of both. If he found out that Noah was a commoner he would have been quite surprised to be incorrect in his guess.
He let out a huff of a laugh at the mention of 'laundry' which seemed so far beneath Noah's skills. "While that seems an unfortunate waste of your talent, I suppose it is a good thing that you aren't needed more at the moment," he praised him though he got far too many inappropriate ideas of the surgeon's hands being 'tools or weapons'. "Well, if you ever need a training partner..." he began but didn't finish as they moved back to the topic of his injury.
Noah was making things rather hard though, literally. Ben shifted a little in his seat as he tried to think of the least sexy things he could in order to prevent more of an arousal that he was already getting at the thought of where he really wanted to put Noah's hands.
He rolled his shoulder, no pain there beyond having used that muscle a lot this morning. Bent his elbow, no pain there. He rolled his wrist and felt a spike of pain right at the joint as he winced. He took Noah's wrist then, as directed, and placed the man's palm against the top of his wrist. Just the warmth from his hand felt soothing and the touch itself distracting enough to nearly forget about the pain. "Here," he said, clearing his throat as he looked up at the surgeon under his long, dark lashes.
"I'll take you up on that," he said with a smile as a loose lock of his hair fell over his eye, "training if you'd take me up on...dinner? Tomorrow? I can look at your arm again," he let Ben take his hand and show him where the hurt was and Noah began to rub the spot checking for a break or perhaps a fracture while he let his very intended invite hang in the air, "it...doesn't feel bad...warm," and fuuuck strong this man's arms were really developed, "might be just a sprain, hyperextended, you'll need to just work it out over the next few days," Noah messaged the spot tenderly secretly rather enjoying this before pushing the hair back from his face, "Yeah we'll check it out over dinner...."

Ben was cautious enough to not assume that men meant anything more than what they said. Being...the way he was...wasn't exactly appreciated here in Nevermere. However, he also wasn't stupid or naive. Noah invitation to dinner was clearly more than just dinner and he felt his skin warm, his heart increase pace, and a sensation between his legs beginning to grow. Noah massaging the spot on his arm felt good. So good. More than if it was only because of the injury there. It made him want to see what else those talented hands could do.
The privacy of this room, even if it was just canvas walls in a healing tent, gave him a bit more courage than he would have had if they were somewhere more easily spotted by others. His free hand moved to rest on Noah's hip, squeezing it slightly. "Tomorrow then. Can't wait to share a meal with you," he said with a flirtatious grin.
