The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Our dearest and lovely admin welcomed her new baby boy, Jet, on Sept 7th! We're so happy for her and her family! Congratulations Mama!! Your boys are all so lucky to have such an incredible mom to love them! God bless!
Proud. Proud was an adjective that would never be able to fully capture how she felt about her nephews. The two might be products of their environment, but they made it work and they did the work. She could still remember the two little boys running around and starting to read, and now they had grown into two great, handsome and smart young men, both with their own ambitions and goals.
Akagi Llewellyn had always been a little more goofy, for lack of a better word, than Sylas Llewellyn , but to Cordelia this just went to show that they balanced each other out perfectly. They each had their own personality, strengths and weaknesses. And that made her proud.
The cold weather didn't affect the older woman much. She had simply put on a warmer coat and had left in search of her nephew. He wasn't expecting her, but it wasn't unusual for her to just drop by from time to time. After all, that was what aunts were for: knocking on your door when you least expect them and having them check in on how you were doing. They cared for you and loved you, but could give better advice than mothers and grandmothers because they were able to take a step back from situations involving their nephews, in order to be as objective as they could.
Cordelia nodded at some of the guards and even some of the slaves while making her way through the palace. She was quite positive that she would be able to find Sylas in the sitting room. There was a fireplace and bookcases, but it was more private and not open to the public. The brunette entered the room and glanced at the sofa to try and catch a glimpse of her nephew.

Kezia had recently come back home and while Sylas had been a distracted wreck while she was away, things had settled again now that she was back. A new necklace rested around his neck, an enchantment he had made for him and Kezia so that they would never have to be very far from one another. A way to reach each other at any time regardless of distance. It was kind of like a security blanket and one he never intended to remove.
He was having a few moments of peaceful silence in the sitting room, a book in his lap opened somewhere around the middle and a large stack of books on the side table beside him. At the sound of footsteps he looked up to find the familiar form of his aunt. Sylas wasn't a particularly open person and rarely shared any sort of affection for people, especially outside of his immediate family, but his aunt was one of the few who had managed to settle into his heart.
"Aunt Cordelia," he greeted her, placing his gloved palm on top of the opened book so it would stay in place.

It turned out that it was actually Sylas who was enjoying the tranquility of the reading room. Cordelia stepped forward and sat down on an armchair opposite of the couch Sylas was sitting in. She smiled at the young man, realising once more how different he and his brother were. She would have gotten a big hug from Akagi once he had stood up from one of his typical weird, crossed legged sitting positions, but Sylas was always the paragon of serenity and calmness. "Sylas, how fare you?" she asked with a little smile on her lips. She glanced at the small table next to her own chair to take a look at the books that were left on it. Perhaps they were books Sylas had left there, but they could also have been from someone else. "I heard Kezia has returned. You must be excited."

Though his aunt had not been born into the family, Sylas had always thought that she was a good fit for it. She was full of grace and poise and he admired her for that. It might not be atypical in Arynn Frey but she always seemed a cut above the rest. He kept his gaze on her as she moved to sit and at her mention of Kezia he looked away, heat rising to his cheeks. He had never been good at talking about his emotions and felt it oddly vulnerable to admit how much of a relief and excitement it was to have Kezia back.
He took perhaps too long of a moment to find words to reply. Finally he looked back up at Cordelia. "I had received word that she had died," he explained. "To find her back home, perfectly healthy, was-" he struggled again for another few moments but wasn't able to express in words how that had felt. So finally he just shrugged.

She pursed her lips together to try to contain a cheeky smile when Sylas looked away at the mention of Kezia. Men and emotions were truly something else. She had always thought her nephews were in touch with their emotions, but apparently love was something Sylas was still a little shy about. She couldn't blame him. Love was something incredibly special. It was a once in a lifetime thing, especially in Arynn Frey.
However long it took him to find the words, Cordelia would respond and act as if it had ben a completely acceptable amount of time. The last thing she wanted to do was make him feel ashamed of allowing himself to feel things. She nodded empathically when he shrugged. "A relief, to say the least, which still doesn't even begin to describe it", she said, attempting to finish his sentence. "I'm so glad she's safe, Sylas." She offered him one of her warm smiles. She didn't really know how the Llewellyn family felt about Kezia, but the only thing that should matter, was that Sylas was happy.
"It's a horrible, horrible thing what happened at the wall." Cordelia sighed deeply. "Those poor Dresmondi."

Relief was only the beginning of how he felt about her return but he could tell that his aunt was well aware that explaining it in words would never really suffice. He always appreciated her skill in dealing with other people. She had a way of making people feel comfortable even in uncomfortable situations. He never felt like he had to be anyone but himself when he was around her.
His face feel further though when she mentioned the attack on the wall. "Some dead, some forced to return home. Only three here in all of Arynn Frey...it shouldn't have been that way. I wish my mother-" he hesitated, not wanting to speak poorly of someone he cared about. "It could have been different," was all he said on the matter. If the dresmondi had been more fully accepted and not forced to live in a camp so close to the border then they would have been more fully protected, impossible to target as a group...

She cocked her head to the side. She wasn't one to gossip, and wasn't a tattletale, but she did wonder what Sylas was going to say. "You can speak freely here, Sylas. You know I wouldn't say anything about it to anyone." A kind, genuine offer. Not one meant to still the curiousity.
"It could indeed have went differently." She sighed deeply. "Sadly it didn't. Hopefully we have learnt from this. We won't let it happen again. We need to be the one to strike first, if there's a next time." She looked at her nephew for a moment. "Have you talked to your mother, since?"

Though his aunt gave him the space to speak freely, which he appreciated, he did not finish what he'd been thinking. He was very rarely particularly open with people, it had never been a strong suit of his. Only Kezia had ever seen the most full version of who he really was. So much of it he'd kept bottled inside for so much of his life.
He looked a little guilty though at her question. "I have not spoken to her, no. I probably should, I know, but...I haven't."

"I see", she said, without judgement or a hidden layer of disappointment. "You should once you feel ready, and know what to say. I can imagine it's not an easy time for her, now." She leaned over and squeezed his arm. "You're a good man, Sylas."
She softly slapped her thighs and got up from her seat. "I don't want to keep you. Perhaps I should get going", Cordelia then said.

People would have liked Sylas to be the type to reach out, to insist she say longer, but he'd never been that way and his aunt knew that very well. Instead he nodded and stood politely before she'd make her exit. "Thank you for the advice, I'll be sure to think on it," he said as warmly as a man like Sylas could.
