The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Honora looked down at Levi as if seeing him for the first time. He writhed while she remained frozen—motionless, stunned by what she had seen and done. Eventually, a soft sentence fell like a feather from her lips, drifting down to where Levi lay.

Hiram looked at Elliot as the helpless man prattled on, barking whatever he could, perhaps to make Hiram mad or just to air his opinion. When he finished, Hiram only had one question for the man:

"If I do, I hope to take you with me", he responded, but he knew how useless these words were. He was but a man, and Hiram a monster. There was no way he could kill Hiram. The knife to the chest hadn't even affected him. Still, Elliot held his chin high, even in the rigid state he was in.

Levi closed his eyes. His head was splitting in two and there was too much to think about. Yet the very idea of thinking made it hurt even more. He barely managed to catch the soft words of Honora, as well as the other two, but he could only focus on the first.
You loved her.
The words couldn't have been more true. Of course he did. Luna had meant so much to him and he'd hurt her before he'd realized it. He tried to make up for it in the end, and yet, it wasn't enough. She was still gone. His memory was all jumbled, but he could clearly remember the pain her death caused. His breaking point. The moment that he no longer lived and simply...existed.
He managed only a nod. He wanted the day to end, or the pain, or both.

He loved her.
Honora stepped back slowly, looking down at her hands and then back to Levi. Her mouth was dry, the rage that she'd felt just moments ago turning to ash in her mouth. In the corners of her mind, Zahaela cackled, gleefully mocking her.
We're not so different, you and I.
Not so different at all.
No.
As if moving through a dream, Honora looked toward Hiram and Elliot at the unfolding scene as if seeing it at a great distance. She looked back at Levi.

Hiram frowned at the ugly little man whose answer didn’t really address the question. Clearly he was some misguided anti-gifted, or anti Eldouir, who had just done something very stupid and very pointless.
“You should have planned this better.” Hiram said, a hint of disappointment in his voice. He removed the knife from the man’s shoulder with a sickening squelch and would proceed, unless prevented, to sink the tip of it into each eye, deep enough to blind but not deep enough to touch the brain and kill.
“Maybe next time,” his words were likely lost to the screaming, “you’ll take more time to think before you act.”

He screamed louder than he had ever screamed before when the knife was used to blind him. Sickness came over him and he puked. Unless Hiram stepped aside, it would hit him.
He didn't even hear what Hiram said. Elliot's eyes were watering, mixed with some blood, and traveled down his cheeks.

And now he was being hit by the splash from another man's vomit and blood. Could this day get any better?
Honora apologized, moving away from Levi. Elliot was having his eyes gouged out by the most powerful Eldouir of the family. And finally Levi had had his mind violated and jumbled and it hurt like hell.
It was the screams that forced his gaze to focus on the men who were here. It took every ounce of strength that remained within him to bring himself to his feet. One hand rested on the side of his head, while the other held onto the nearby table to balance himself. He felt shaky, and he looked on at the scene before him.
He glared at Honora, then at Elliot, then at Hiram. "Have you finished yet?!" He demanded. He just wanted them all to leave, but this might also have been the stupidest thing he'd ever done as well.

Indeed, Levi was pretty stupid.
Hiram looked to Honora.
“Are you finished with him?” But before waiting for her response her let the dagger fly with masterful accuracy, aiming directly for Levi’s eyeball, though the velocity behind the throw would cause the weapon to sink past the ball and into the brain, either killing him or wounding him irreversibly.
To say that Hiram Eldouir and Levi Wyndham were unmatched was an understatement. Taking a man like Hiram, who was currently covered in blood and vomit from Elliot Moore, with heavy and regular combat training against a man like Levi who had very little combative training at all under his belt in comparison, the chances of Hiram not hitting his mark would have been very low indeed.
The weapon did indeed hit it's mark, the blade going straight through the center of Levi's eye and into his brain. He wouldn't die instantly but would be immediately incapacitated as he fell to the ground, barely able to move. He'd have less than a minute of life remaining unless someone magical decided to heal him.
Elliot lay blind and bleeding while Honora Allemeade stood watching.

Honora watched Levi fall. She saw the life start to leave him, the hum of psychic energy that she could normally detect starting to fade like an echo. Panicked, Honora reached out and seized his arm, searching his dying mind for a scrap of light: for Luna, for his love for her that wrapped around Honora like an embrace. The memories weren’t whole, already starting to break apart as Levi died, but she salvaged what she could like one robbing a grave.
It would hurt. But in his last moments, Levi would also see the light as Honora ripped it from him. When Honora pulled her hand from his arm, the severing of the connection would likely be enough to end him—and his misery.

What happened in that next moment was so quick, Levi had no time to react, no time to regret. The knife buried itself in his eye, to his brain, dropping him to the ground in mere seconds. He was dying, finally dying. His mind barely registered what pain he should be feeling, his mouth making no sound. As much as he'd feared that death would be painful, it was only for a second.
Blissful memories flooded what was left of his mind. His mother, his father, his brothers and sister, and then, Luna. His heart felt warm and at peace as his body turned cold.
His suffering ended. He was finally home. He was no longer alone.

Death. It should have meant something. There should have been a moment of reverence, of acknowledgement. There was none. Hiram might as well have squashed a beetle. Even before Levi’s form hit the ground he was walking away.
“If you miss the ride then you walk.” He said to Honora as the blood he had with him began to pool with what Elliot and Levi had shed.

Dead.
Honora clasped the golden cluster of memories that she’d stolen from him. But she didn’t have long to ponder. When Hiram started to move, she moved after him, glancing at Elliot, unwilling to be left alone to whatever wolves lay waiting in the Wyndham estate. She’d take hold of Hiram’s arm and let the blood swallow them both, eyes falling on Elliot just before she was consumed.
