The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Remiel had come back to Loren as requested, a fresh black eye patch had replaced the old bandages and the doctor at the farm had given a pretty grim outcome: vision wasn't likely to ever return and the once blue eye was already clouding over. He still had at least one eye left. Remiel had also brought with him a self made map of the Keep it was the current layout of his land and on it also laid out future plans, pending the Crown’s stance on it yet he was still presenting it. It could work and he knew it could. Of course besides the map Remi had other things to discuss with the Prince. He waited where the guards had lead him that someone would cone fetch him when the Prince was ready for him.

The prince hadn’t necessarily doubted that Remiel would show, but was still pleased to hear that the Allemeade had kept up his end of their bargain. The prince instructed the messenger that Remiel was to wait in a separate meeting room while he concluded some business in his office. A guard would be there to “see to any of Remiel’s needs”, but also to keep an eye on him. Security at the palace had been increased, and no one was made an exception.
When the prince arrived, an additional guard accompanied him into the room. The prince greeted him and sat expecting Remiel to do the same.
“What is it you have for me, Marquis Allemeade?” The prince’s tone was friendly, as he saw no reason to be anything but.

Remiel didn't sound unfriendly but he still sounded defeated, he didn't carry himself like he use to yet he still just went through the motions. He sat when he was told or offered offering the Prince a warm enough look as he sat removing from his personal belongings the map, "I've been working your Majesty, I know you haven't picked a day for a visit but I've gathered a few things about the Keep so you have the chance to read a head of your visit, this is a map of the current property," with the map were the current crops being readied for the next season, the names of workers on the property as well as all current Gifted opting to take up residence, business licenses and the property deed, "This details the security at the Keep, I've hired a few mercenaries and I know it isn't favorable...but these men and women are more along the lines of they need the coin: retired or discharged injured soldiers from different Marshall's. Captain Tybalt also loaned a few troops," next Remiel offered the Prince two sealed folders, "These are...requests, one for the purchase of some more land to further grow and maintain larger crops, the other is my proposal for The School of Gifted Education...," he hesitated to hand it over for a second but he released it, "I'll say it now your Majesty, I will never leave this kingdom to go to where ever it is that King Cassian Rainecourt has to offer...if it means I wear a collar in my homeland..I'll take the shame."

Augustus nodded as Remiel spoke, eyes traversing the map and all of the Keep's fields and forests. The word mercenary gave the prince pause, but he was gratified to hear that there were some trusted soldiers blended by the Zanes. When the school of gifted education emerged, Augustus paused in his movement before resuming his attentive nodding and 'hmm'ing again.
And at Remiel's final assertion, the prince smiled with genuine admiration. "Both gifted and non-gifted call Lorendale home. It is my sincerest hope that both will continue to live here in safety and peace." He returned his attention to the matter at hand.
"The queen has yet to detail her plans around the school of gifted education," Augustus said, "I must admit, Marquis, I remain concerned about what we are to do with those who see no need to rein in their gift. What are we to do with those like Elena who seek only to cause destruction? Who would not make themselves known until it was too late?"
The prince was genuinely interested in his perspective. Remiel had been close with the Eldouir (something that the prince had certainly not forgotten), and therefore he knew what horrors gifted magic could do.

"I know she hasn't given any details about the school your Majesty," Remiel sat back looking at Augustus with his last good eye, "As for your questions, those aren't for me to determine that seems more in your and the Crowns court, I was a farmer for most of my life and now I just want to teach Gifteds how to control their gifts...I support mandatory registration, I support when a Gifted uses their gift for ill intent to be punished just as any other person," Remiel laced his hands in his lap, "The Keep has rules and I will see them followed through, if that means putting your people on the property to oversee this so be it because it makes sense. I am not an Eldouir, I've learned two things from my time spent with them; a deep seated hate for them and how not to use my Gift. I've never used my Gift to harm another soul that wasn't hurting someone I loved or myself, as much as everyone wanted to hate me after the farm attack...I protected Captain Tybalt from non-gifteds and Hiram Eldouir a like your Majesty, when the Eldouir fled I chose Lorendale and I helped put out the fires they causes, and just recently when Elena made her bold move I protected everyone on that balcony and I jumped into the chaos to protect those gathered. I've never went against th Crown, I picked it every time over family and over Gifteds."

Augustus listened, noting the sincerity in the Allemeade’s voice. He was still a gifted of power, that Augustus would not forget, but for now, he was willing to extend the Allemeade the benefit of the doubt. His willingness to step in at the queen’s speech, his subsequent rejection of Oriana, his wife, after her misdeeds…all of these things worked in his favor.
“I do not contest that you have made yourself an ally in our cause,” Augustus said earnestly, “And I sincerely hope that a partnership will prove fruitful. Since you are willing—I would ask that members of the Royal Legionnaire be on your property to provide assistance as needed. I have not forgotten Fischer Wyndham’s attack on your home, Marquis, and I’d hate for similar actors to do further harm to you and yours.” He looked over the plans once more.
“If you are agreeable, I will take these plans to Her Majesty for discussion. In the meantime, I will work with Commander Zane to send you with members of the Legionnaire to your home. Once I have had a chance to look over the plans with the queen, I will travel to the Keep so that these plans might be set into motion.”
That is, when the queen was well enough to look at them.

Augustus dipped his head in acknowledgment, allowing Remiel to leave. Commander Tybalt would be the key piece, he thought. A trusted face to the Alelmeade. The king would not make off with the gifted. Not whisk them away to Nevermere…not if Augustus had anything to say about it.
