The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Othello was allowed within the military wing only, which he didn't mind he was kind of use to the life of go here and go there but stay where we say. Whatever. He had to put muscle back on and get back to his training so he'd joined a training session watching at first, it was a mixture fresh privates and experienced soldiers. His blue gray eyes zeroed in on one private holding a sword very dainty like, "No, no..no," Othello finally spoke pushing off the stone wall, some older soldiers whispered to he younger ones that that was the Champion of Nevermere, "You're going to break your fuckin wrist holdin' a sword like that boy," he'd watched the whole time as the boy dropped his sword and got a sharp flat bladed smack across the knuckles by the older boy, "Hold it like this yeah?"
He showed the boy how to hold his sword as the older boy and some of his buddies gathered to snicker at the Champion and the welp sized private.
"Perhaps he'd be better with a flower as a weapon," the other boy "whispered" to his friends as they gave their fake laughs.
"Hahahaha," Othello stood laughing mockingly as he placed a hand on the older boys shoulder, "That was good, a flower, you ever took a punch boy?"
The young noble looked dreadfully offended, "Took a pun-," Othello blasted the boy so hard square on the nose that it was lights out and blood all the way down to the ground, not even his little buddies could catch him they just stood watching as Othello shook his fist, "I read in a book...the fist is mightier than the jaw, so if you fuckleberries don't collect your dainty lord I'll ice all of you. Scram."
Othello turned and the others collected the nance quickly making for the infirmary for a sparring accident.
"Want to train boy?"
"With you sir? The Champion...Imma nobody commoner sir, 'fraid I ain't so good yeah?"
"Well, you need it, you looked piss poor and you'd probably do better with a flower...you fight like that on the battlefield you'll be skewered and your guts ripped through your arse..you need it..."

Isaac wasn't really doing much that day. His shift wouldn't start for another few hours, so he was just hanging around the bunks and the training courtyard. He preferred training during an actual training session, because he was always a bit worried he'd hurt someone during a friendly spar, and if the other person was a real sore loser, they could go talk shit about the Coheedsman and people would probably believe it, too. He didn't blame them, though. He was an outsider, and he knew he had to work to gain their trust.
Something in the training courtyard caught his attention, and instead of continuing his way, he stopped and leaned against a wall. Nevermerean citizens all had dark hair. This blond hair was very noticeable and had caught his attention. He squinted while thinking. Was that Othello? He had heard about the man, but over his last seven years in Nevermere, he hadn't spoken to him once, or at least not that he remembered.
Coheed didn't have this whole weird noble and commoner thing, but he had learnt what they meant, and he also knew Lorendale had a similar system. Othello must have been noble back when he lived in Lorendale, right? So it surprised him to see the way he treated the noble kids that were making fun of the small boy. They definitely had it coming, but Isaac hadn't expected a noble to stand up for a commoner. The titles all barely meant anything to Isaac. Technically he was a commoner too, he believed. He wasn't wealthy at all and spent every night at the bunks in the military wing. He didn't have the money to buy himself a home.
The Coheedsman remained leaning against the wall as Othello described vividly how the kid would die on the battlefield, which made Isaac chuckle softly, while also feeling empathy for the boy.
"Go easy on him", he said from where he was standing. "You're absolutely right, but don't kill his motivation by beating his ass completely. I don't think they'll like it if we outsiders scare their privates so bad they leave the military." He had a grin on his face.

Othello's head looked up at the new voice, "Makes sense," Othello replied as he looked back at the younger soldier, "With a whole lot of training runt you'll be almost half alive coming home!" Othello belted with laughter before he grabbed the boy up in a headlock and rubbed his knuckles across the man's head before pushing him away, "Learn to hold a blade and come talk to he Champion in a few years..."
The Gifted man turned his attention toward the stranger, "And what makes you an outsider friend? You look like this lot, Othello Allemeade, Nevermere Champion," and he gave a mocking deep bow, "Keeper of keys to Lorendale, passing Vagabon of Coheed, and the terrorist of Cambria...patents pending..."

Othello heard him and seemed to agree with what Isaac said. He went in to tease the kid a little longer, but it was friendly enough, he thought. In the long run, the kid would be grateful for the fact that someone had spoken to him like that. Some privates really didn't realise what was in store for them. The kid skedaddled away when Othello attention shifted to Isaac instead of him. The dark-haired man's eyes followed him until he was out of sight before turning his attention back to Othello.
"That's quite a mouthful, my friend", he said with a smile. "What makes me an outsider is that I fled from Coheed. The Disappointment of Coheed, the Nay-sayer, whatever you want. You said you are the passing vagabond? We must've missed each other, then."
He wouldn't bore the man with his story, unless he asked. He frowned a bit, though, because he was wondering... "What do you mean by terrorist of Cambria, what went down with you and the Cambrians?"

Othello let out a loud chuckle as he scratched around the collar on his neck, "I'm a mouthy fucker friend, you'll learn or hear about it," Othello began to stretch, "Aye, I was amongst your folk for a while before injustices came due and Nevermere snatched me up and their making me a weapon basically...it pays," he grinned wider, "....annnnd waay back I washed up on their shores after a storm some shit was said and one bitch told a bunch of other bitches to run us down, well I one chase later I cleaved down one big bitch in front of her sister and that bitch has it out for me," he shrugged, "so maybe I'm the bad guy to one little Cambrian...," the grin turned into a wolf like smile, all teeth and nothing in the eyes, "My kind don't got no good history or love between your people and the women tribe..."

In all honesty, he only understood about half of what Othello said. The man was chaotic and all over the place, but Isaac kept a pleasant smile on his face as he nodded along to the stories. 'some bitch told a bunch of other bitches' didn't quite make it clear who Othello was talking about, after all.
"We don't, indeed. I don't consider myself a Coheedsman anymore, though. Too much happened there."
He had noticed that Othello was scratching at a collar. "Is that one of those Lorendale collars?" he asked, obviously interested. He hadn't seen one up close, and he hadn't actually had a friendly talk with a Gifted ever before.

The smile turned to annoyance, "Aye that it is, and it's because I'm a bad boy," followed by an annoyed chuckle, "I consider myself a dutiful loyal dog now," he was in fact none of those things but the dog part, "They say sick'em and I sick'em. Roll dog roll," he said panting, it'd be clear possibly to this man before him to see Othello was unhinged not really the murderous fellow he once was but something didn't quiet keep his cheese on his cracker. Wild and sporadic in a land full of iron fist fisted uppity yokals.
Othello surveyed the room, "I am always being watched, just so you know...the Commander keeps tabs on me at all times I can't shit that he won't know the fucking fiber of my diet."

Did he regret going over to talk to Othello? Not completely, but he definitely hadn't expected such unhinged and strange behaviour. He felt a bit guilty when the thought 'I understand why they collared him' crossed his mind. No, he didn't understand. Othello was an outcast, just like he himself was.
"Sounds like you and the Commander aren't on good terms", he said with a soft chuckle, but the tone of his voice also indicated that he felt for Othello. Not in a super sad, emotional way, but just because he knew what it was like. And that's what he said. "I know what it's like. Not with the Commander, but back in Coheed."

"We've had a rocky start to our relationship because I'm not ordinary, I've never been confined to the social constructs of leaders...Lorendale...Coheed," Othello shrugged, "Kaalim Cyrilson tolerated me because I was Gifted and he had hopes of using me against the Eldouir, Lorendale and my family had written me off before I was a man, and Nevermere wishes to tame me and use my Gift...I often wonder if I fit in anywhere, but Nevermere has been my best bet so far," he chuckled before sighing, "It's hard being a savage in any kingdom, but look at us," he indicated the link between them, "loyal subjects of Nevermere."

It was insightful to have this conversation with Othello. In some ways, he could really relate to the man. In other ways, not so much, mostly because he wasn't Gifted, and had never been a killing machine.
He chuckled when Othello called them loyal subjects of Nevermere. "Yeah, Nevermere had been good for me. I can imagine it's more difficult for you, with your Gift. I'm sorry to hear about your family, though. I was close to mine, but now I'm not sure either where they are and how they're doing."

Isaac shrugged lightly. "We've all invaded each other at some point, so who's to say who the bad guys are?" he said, in regards to hated Gifted. "The people of Coheed are stronger than Nevermere and non-Gifted citizens of Lorendale as well, so why are we considered so different?"
The redheads. "They're the natural enemy, of course. I haven't come face to face with one yet, but they pose a threat to all kingdoms. I don't have a problem with people with ambition, but I don't believe the Eldouir want to unite Terra Nova in a peaceful way."

"I'm not a philosophical man friend," Othello choked out between a smile and a chuckle, "I'm a blunt and up front person, goddesses tits these people wish I had a filter but I don't. So I'll tell you what I know: We're all bad men Isaac; but them red heads are better bad men," Othello crossed his arms staring out across the training soldiers, "I lived amongst them for a short period of time and I've met their fearless head of house Hiram...they aren't going to be easily defeated, it will take every kingdom from here to Arynn Frey to beat them."

Although Othello was not a philosophical man, or at least he claimed not to be, Isaac actually saw logic and sense in what the Champion said. All men are evil. It was something philosophical in itself.
"Is it even worth the fight?" he asked, not because he felt defeated, but he wanted to know what his priorities ought to be. Buying time for people he cared about might be all he could do, if those Eldouir were so powerful.

"Oh it'll be worth it, but loads of people will die to win," The Gifted man said very matter of factly and darkly grim, "But that's why the King sought men like me...fight Gifted against Gifted and given my families bloody history with the red headed cunts I have a healthy dose of reckoning to cast upon them," times like these he just wished to have the damn collar off so he could flex just a little in front of others...still Othello was very dangerous as is.
"I can bend and manipulate steel and metal to my will," he explained his Gift, "I'm quite good at it too..."
