The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Aldrich made his way over to the Chieftain's hut, in hopes of being able to catch Magda there. He needed to speak to her about a few things, like the recommendations he had made while talking to Kaalim, but he also wanted to see her to check up on her after the rape and the death of Izen. It was also an excuse to see her again after that dream he had about her. His skin still tingled when he thought about it.
He knocked on the door or announced his presence to the guards and waited for word to enter.

The world bent and breathed to the whims of Magda Ivanova. Who would have thought it? The girl who’d been nearly been smothered by the lecherous desires of her father, the woman who’d been maligned at court as nothing but a harlot and a temptress. She was those things, but so much more. A sweet, beautiful flower, but one with venomous properties if one came too close. And the men of Coheed were starting to discover just how sweet she was.
Aldrich would be allowed entry. When he arrived, he’d find Magda in her office, draped in a chair with two warriors of Coheed standing behind her.
“You may leave us,” Magda said, waving a dismissive hand at them, eyes not leaving Aldrich. They obeyed. As they left and shut the door behind them, Magda stood and drifted toward the Sergeant. She would be even more intoxicating than his memories or dreams could conjure.

Once granted entry, Aldrich walked into the room and saw Magda sitting in a chair. He immediately remembered the way she sat and laid down in his dream, and the memory of that leash had him clearing his throat.
"Lady Ivanova", he responded kindly once the Coheedsmen had left and she approached him. She didn't walk, she was like an angel. She seemed to float everywhere. She was truly mesmerising.
He could sense that his cheeks were a little more red than they should be. A blushing Aldrich? That was unique.
"Of course, my lady. I wanted to speak to you about something anyway, but it wasn't a very pressing matter. Hearing what happened to you, however, was very pressing." He hesitated a bit, because he felt like he knew her better than he actually did. He had to remind himself that dream Magda was who he had gotten to know, and not the real Magda. "If there is anything I can do for you..." he eventually said.

Magda’s smile faltered, the memory of the horror she had brought upon herself surging like a nauseous tide before receding once again. A hardness rose behind her eyes as if to steel herself against any guilt, any confliction she might have about the sin she’d committed. For it was a sin, certainly.
She’d look like she was about to cry, if only for a moment. Magda wasn’t above a bit of a show, and so she’d decided to put on a spot of one now. Intended for an audience of one. “Coheed has its harsh edges,” Magda whispered, very close to Aldrich at this point, “But I’m determined to smooth them out. The crown may not have faith in my commitment to the task, even after—after what’s happened. But I’m determined to prove them wrong. We can. Together.” She smiled up at Aldrich, here in the privacy of her office, willing to be very close.

It took everything he had to keep himself from wanting to wrap his arms around Magda when she looked like she was about to cry. He wasn't one to want to console people, but Magda was irresistible and mesmerising. Aldrich was able to contain himself but put his hands behind his back anyway, to make it easier for himself. She was close to him, and her smile... It did things to him. He repositioned his hands back to the front of his body, hoping it could conceal what exactly Magda's presence was doing to him. This wasn't the time, he thought to himself, hoping his lower regions would agree soon.
"With all due respect to the crown, it would be foolish of them not to have faith in you, lady Ivanova. You are obviously changing Coheed for the better. There can be no excuses for rapist. I am sorry it happened to you, but you dealt with it well."

Magda smiled with wide-eyed gratitude. Since she was a girl, it had been her sole purpose to be attuned to the needs of men. To understand their desires and become the subject of it. Before, it had brought her weakness, but now? Power. Magda reached out and stroked Aldrich’s cheek, running her fingers down it in a slow caress.
“I fear my husband will no longer desire me,” Magda said breathily, “Men of Coheed are not like men of Nevermere. They seek conquest, to own, to possess. They don’t understand…Not like you do…” Lies and the truth were seamless and interchangeable on Magda’s tongue. All that mattered was the end result, that she got what she wanted—damn the consequences for those who got in the way.

Dreams and reality were beginning to overlap in Aldrich's mind, and it was almost overwhelming. Somehow her hands on his cheek felt even better in real life than in his dream.
"He would be a fool to not desire you for something that was out of your hands", he muttered. He didn't dare to touch her hand or lean into the touch. "But I do understand." He breathed deeply. "And like I said before, I'll be by your side always, supporting you."

“And do you, Sergeant Abbott?” Magda purred, hand flush against his cheek and turning his face so that his eyes looked directly into hers, “Do you desire me?”

He thought 'yes', and wanted to say 'no' in a diplomatic way because he didn't want to end up like Izen, but he couldn't get that diplomatic answer out. He couldn't deny, Magda's influence and aura made sure of that.
"Yes", he responded breathily, almost in a sigh, as if it was a truth that had been wanting to get out for ages and ages. "Yes, I do."

Magda laughed, her low chuckle sounding more like the purr of a predator. Her fingers brushed down his cheek, down his neck until it came to rest on his chest. For a moment, it looked as if she were about to kiss him. Her lips were close, so painfully close to his before she gently pushed him back, stepping to her desk.
“Then we will accomplish much together, Sergeant Abbott. I will see that it is so,” Magda said through her dazzling grin as she sat behind her desk, straight to business as if nothing out of the ordinary had occurred, “I know you have been working closely with Kaalim Cyrilson to see Coheedsmen and women are well-integrated within the troops positioned here. I would like to take a more active role in overseeing their progress as well. I shall plan to join you at the training yard more regularly. Perhaps in your office, you can educate me on the finer points of…military preparedness.”
Magda’s eyes lingered on Abbott. Likely it was clear there was a second offer within that one.

His heart was beating so fast that it might have been audible to Magda, with how close she was to him. He swallowed when it seemed like she was about to kiss him, and let out the air that he had been holding in his lungs when she pushed him away softly. He felt dizzy, and his mind became a bit more clear now they weren't as close anymore.
He cleared his throat and listened to Magda speak. "Of course. I'd be glad to have you on the training yard, and to educate you." The double meaning of her words hadn't been lost on him, but he tried to play it cool.
With this certain distance between them, Aldrich managed to have a mind that was clear enough to make him remember why he had come over, apart from checking on her.
"I spoke with Kaalim about the women, and he tasked me to bring this idea to you. To give the Parabolti a better chance at integrating, I thought a crèche might be a good idea. If there are some women that aspire to stay a mother first and foremost, and not become a warrior, perhaps we could appoint them to be caretakers, so they can look after the Parabolti's children for a few days so they have the opportunity to train uninterrupted, without distraction."

“A crèche …” Magda considered the possibility, a wicked thought taking root in her mind, “Yes, that would do nicely. Surely there are a few women of Coheed and Nevereman witches that could care for them. Perhaps even give some children schooling while their mothers are not there to oversee them. Teach them our ways.” Magda grinned.
“You’ve done well, Sergeant. Let me know how I can assist you in seeing this through.”

Magda's idea to combine the crèche with schooling and teaching the children the ways of Nevermere was great, and he wished he had thought of it himself. Maybe he could have impressed Magda even more, which was all he had been wanting to do lately.
"Thank you, lady Ivanova", he said, dipping his head. "I will let you know if I can think of something. I will try to talk to Imani soon, I feel like she would know some women that would be willing to help. If you know any trusted witches to assist, I will talk to them as well."

Magda grinned, eyes hungrily looking at Aldrich as if he were a tasty morsel to be consumed.
“I look forward to being impressed,” Magda purred, crossing her legs so that her skirt slipped to the side and her bare tan skin was exposed to the rays of the Coheedian sun filtering in through the window.

The skin, her voice, her words. Aldrich swallowed and nodded. "Thank you, lady Ivanova", he would say before bowing, a small smile on his face. Then he would make his way over to the door, ready to go out and impress her.
