The sense of pride that Peter felt for having obtained his new position was no small thing. Ever since his appointment he'd been feeling elated and confident, not that that was different from normal, he supposed. He walked through the halls as if he'd always been there, smile on his face, and shoulders held confidently.

"Whoa!" he exclaimed as a woman ran into him. The items in her hands wobbled briefly and he held out his arms to try to keep them from falling but it turned out to be unnecessary. When he got a good look at her he smiled handsomely and had to fight the urge to look her up and down. What a pretty little thing. "Oh please, it was just as much my fault," he said, which may or may not have actually been true but that hardly mattered.

"I'm Peter, by the way," he introduced himself though he kept his title and surname out of it, trying for a more personable approach. "The new Lord Steward."

Peter's eyes sparkled with delight when she explained who she was and her job as well. "Ah! So we'll likely be seeing each other around more then. Good to know there are such friendly," and beautiful, "faces around. Makes the whole thing less intimidating, right?" he said with a chuckle and a wink.

"Are you gifted then?" he asked without even a hint of judgement and only curiosity. It made sense that the gifted advisor and their assistant would likely be gifted but there was always a chance that it wasn't the case.

He looked down at the books in her hands and took a half step forward with his hands out. "Can I help you carry those? I'm not in a rush to get anywhere and would be happy to assist," he suggested, eyes sparkling.

"I couldn't agree more," he said as she explained how work was so much more enjoyable with people you liked around. He definitely wouldn't mind the days when he got to peek at her lovely face. When she confirmed he was gifted he gave her a smile. "I think that's wonderful," he said but didn't push the subject. He knew it was a sensitive topic and that there was a lot of hate against her people. Of course he was curious what her gift was but he didn't ask. He wasn't sure if he was in her shoes if he'd be willing to give that information up to a stranger.

He took the books, testing their weight but not struggling with them. Though it did make the muscles and tendons in his forearms more noticeable now that they were in use. "Lead the way, my dear," he said with a charming smile. "Today is mostly just getting settled into things and figuring out where Lady Kane left off. What about you? What projects do you have going on today?"
