The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Her eyes examined the faces that walked past them. Acacia still wondered where her twin was. They must be in Lorendale if they were still alive, and why wouldn't they be in the capital? Most life was drawn to it, naturally, because of it's ambiance and possibilities. She, however, didn't like Loren all that much. She didn't even like Lorendale. Her Gift needed to stay hidden, or people would be on her ass all day. No, she didn't like it. The Eldouir had the right idea when they turned on the crown and conquered Dresmond. Maybe that was why Tallis seemed so eager on bonding with the redheads. Acacia was more cautious. The Eldouir were traitors, and had turned on Gifted as well. Why should they not do the same to the Scorzas?
Acacia wasn't in Loren a lot anymore, as of late. She normally stayed at the Scorza ranch, but today she was in the city to check on her shop and close it for winter. There weren't a lot of flowers that grew in this season and she didn't feel like actively looking for them. She just didn't feel like working anymore ever since meeting her family.
But when she arrived at her shop, she noticed the window that allowed people to look in was shattered. Someone had thrown a brick or a stone through it. She could feel the venom build up in her gums as she looked around to find the culprit. There was no way of knowing whether it had been done just now or days ago, or even weeks. Nobody would have been able to reach her anyway.
Still, she looked around. Maybe a bystander would approach her with information.
Yana wasn't on duty, but she still strolled like on patrol it was a habit lately and luckily she already blended as a civilian. The chill of Hiems had her drawing a heavy cloak and hood, in tow was Graydust a strong horse that would follow Yana to the ends of the maps. Yana would do the same for him.
Hanging loosely off Graydust was Yana's blade, she was headed to the Zak family estate having seen the matchmaker her affairs with the city were done. Plus things had changed and the atmosphere around Loren was different. People stared but would dart if she made eye contact, discontent, and worse of all fear. Up a head she spotted a woman who seemed to either be lost or was she looking for someone. Yana hadn't got to close but they'd cross paths but she chanced a look around...fairly empty.
As the distance closed Yana removed her hood dropping it and long dark hair, "Is everything okay my lady?"
Graydust stopped and Yana fed him a lump of sugar from a pouch on her hip. She noticed the shattered glass, "Would you like some help cleaning this up? Shame, I hope it wasn't yours..."

She had been busy trying to find a guilty face in the crowd, but she quickly realised that it must have happened a while ago. Acacia was returning her gaze to the window when it paused on an approaching figure. The woman removed her hood, and Acacia lightly raised an eyebrow. A soldier-type. A big contrast with her own lady-like clothes and behaviour. She was a snob. She didn't like to get her hands or clothes dirty.
Acacia looked at the horse, not feeling particularly happy to see the animal. Walking through the city with a horse was definitely a choice. Riding was difficult with all the pedestrians. But eventually she looked back at Yana. "Yes, thank you, everything is okay. Well, it isn't, but I am. My shop was vandalised." It was a good thing the culprit wasn't around anymore. She might have just revealed her Gift if he had been. "I'd appreciate some help, but don't feel obligated to help, my lady", Acacia said, smiling slightly at the kind stranger.
Yana bowed her head in confirmation as she began to help the woman clean up the glass, "I'm sorry this happened but I fear people will only continue to get out out of hand, to much unrest," Yana replied carefully picking up several pieces of glass laying them in her gloved hands, "Maybe winter will slow them down," she also feared this vandalism would be resolved either, who would willingly come forward? Who would turn them in if anyone had saw? Cowards and fear.
"Happy enough to help, I'm Yana Zak, and I'm obligated to help citizens to say the least," Yana introduced herself, "What do you sell? And if you have the spare wood or materials perhaps I can assist with boarding up the windows that remain? The world is...maddening."

The younger woman's words made her raise an eyebrow. Unrest? Based on what, she wondered. Acacia didn't say anything, just nodded slightly.
A Zak. "I didn't know there were still Zaks left", she said. "Acacia Barlow, nice to meet you." She curtsied and opened the door of the shop so they could head inside. Here she would pick up a broom so she could sweep the glass inside of the shop. "I'm a flower and pigment vendor, but I've been keeping myself busy in the outskirts lately. Hiems is not a very successful season, business wise." She looked back at the woman when she mentioned wood and the maddening world. "You seem to not have a lot of faith in society, my lady. I can't blame you, given the state of my shop... But still." She put the broom aside so she could look around the shop for some wood.
"We are few and far between," Yana commented on the Zak mentioning, "I've been down south in Ladale, it's also closer to the Kane Troops to which I am in service of, but social duty and...other duties are coming that I must attend as well."
Having collected most of the broken glass that was outside Yana followed her new acquaintance Acacia Barlow, but Yana wasn't a big gossip so when the other woman called her out as faithless Yana remained silent. Dipping the glass into a bin Yana removed her gloves to dust them against the inside of the bin and her foot touched the brick that had busted the window, "Forgive me for my lack of faith, as a soldier I sometimes notice different things and see ugly truths, perhaps things will get better..," she picked the brick up and would dispose of it as well, "They will get better," now she said that with a little forced faith, she didn't have any for Iliana Rainecourt.
"If you don't happen to have wood I know a local miller and perhaps for a trade in the future, I'll purchase the wood and help with the work and for my future wedding day you can help with the flowers? You'll still be compensated," Yana finally smirked, "I know first world problems, but it's part of the reason I've had to return home," subject change. Point out her own woes.

This Zak was very talkative, but stoic. Acacia didn't know a lot about the family, but now she knew quite a bit about the young woman just by the few sentences she spoke. Acacia nodded to indicate she had been listening.
"Oh, don't apologise, dear", the woman said, looking over at Yana. "The world is indeed a cruel place. Most people just tend to try to pretend they don't see it." Things wouldn't get better, she thought, but didn't say anything.
Acacia raised an eyebrow, amused by the proposal and also taken aback a little. It was a very straight forward proposal, but she couldn't see a downside to it, so she extended a hand. "You've got yourself a deal, my lady", she said. "Have you got your eye on someone?" She smiled a bit. She did love wedding talk.
Yana almost apologized for apologizing but she settled with a sympathetic nod, little did either woman know they both did agree things weren't going to get better. She wondered if this was why her parents were finally pushing harder for her to marry.
She perked up at their other agreement, though if Yana dug her heels in a little harder the flower order would be years from now.
"No, no one, and thankfully their hasn't been a line of suitors," she even sounded relieved, "but my parents lined up a matchmaker.."

Acacia smiled at Yana. "Not eager to marry?" she asked. "Forgive me for making assumptions, but you look like you're a soldier, so I suppose it makes sense for you to not want to get married. Settling down isn't for everyone." She shook er head. "A matchmaker? Perhaps I should visit them. I'm becoming too old to be unwed."
Yana felt a little smile tug at the corners of her mouth, "I am not eager, because you guessed right I belong to the Zakk Army and I'm afraid a husband wants children immediately," Yana rubbed the back of her neck, "I'm not ready for that, and definitely not in times like these. I will of course fulfill my family duties, just when I'm ready."
Yana folded her hands behind her back, actually enjoying the chatter with another woman, not a soldier woman, it was refreshing and touched the parts of Yana that she usually forgot, "Lady Whistlebottom is the matchmaker if you ever seek her services, I can give you all the information my parents gave me a almost books worth of stuff for it...if that's your thing of course."

She was listening and nodding along to Yana's words. "Good for you", she said with a smile. "I admire a woman who knows what she wants." She wasn't eager to have children either, but mostly because the Scorza women often didn't survive childbirth.
While Yana enjoyed talking to someone who wasn't a soldier, she enjoyed talking to someone who was a soldier. She had to pay less attention to all her manners, although Yana was still a noblewoman. "I might just be interested in that", she said with a smile. "I'll keep her busy if I can get an appointment with her." She winked. "Keep those men away from you."
Yana actually let a laugh out but the instinct to cover her mouth with the back of her hand happened, "That's quite good," Yana did find it funny and not insulting but also, "That's very nice of you, that would be ideal and I'd owe you immensely, but I will give you that information."
Finally down to just a smile Yana would wait for Acacia to say she was ready to set off and get her window repaired.
"So what will you do for the winter season? For work?" Yana asked hoping it wasn't to nosy, soldiers never truly got seasons off.
