The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Our dearest and lovely admin welcomed her new baby boy, Jet, on Sept 7th! We're so happy for her and her family! Congratulations Mama!! Your boys are all so lucky to have such an incredible mom to love them! God bless!
It was the early hours of the day, but the men had made it to Elyusian without too much trouble. Appearance wise, they didn't look different from citizens of Arynn Frey. They just looked like travelers, maybe. They had left their horses and Elliot followed close behind Quinton when they reached the palace. Here, a guard did approach them, asking them if he could help. "We're looking for Sylas Llewellyn, if he has a moment to spare", Elliot told him with a charismatic smile. "If you'd be so kind to let him know that old connections from Lorendale have travelled far and long to see him."
He looked to the side, where he thought Quinton was, in case he wanted to add something.

The journey had been longer than it should have been. Quinton barely stopped his lip from curling in distaste. If he ever had the opportunity, he’d take some of those guards—particularly that historical female one—and have a little fun. It had been far too long since he’d been able to take out his filet knife, or test out his little poison concoctions. He’d have to pull some nobody off the street at this rate just to keep his skills up. But they had arrived, more tired and perhaps looking more well-travelled than they would have been had things gone smoother. Now they found themselves in front of a new set of guards. Quinton could only hope that it would go better with this lot.
Quinton let Elliot talk. He seemed to have everything all in order, and he didn’t have anything to add. He would only stay near him, appearing as though he accompanied him there as a visual guide as well as a traveling companion.

The guards perhaps seemed a little hesitant about visitors after recent events but while a couple stayed where they were to continue to guard the palace, one departed to deliver the message.
Sylas was in his study, usually somewhere he was alone, but this time he was with Cordelia as they spoke about private matters. Upon delivery of the news Sylas felt curious and suspicious. Was this some new Eldouir trick? He nodded and with a handful of guards, armed with enchanted weapons of course, and inviting his aunt to join him if she'd like, he would make his way to where his guests waited outside.
He didn't recognize them which made the idea of 'old connections' even more suspicious yet his curiosity still won out. Cautiously of course. "To what do I owe this visit?" he asked, not quite ready to just invite these strangers into the palace just yet. The guards remained close though were trained to keep things to themselves. Until Sylas could be sure they were safe, they would remain.

Cordelia and Sylas had spent some more time together since their last talk, and they were in the middle of another conversation when a guard arrived to let them know some people were asking for Sylas. She raised an eyebrow, but gladly invited his invite to tag along.
When they arrived, she had the feeling that Sylas didn't recognise the men, so she looked them up and down to remember their faces if they ended up being trouble. She was glad that the Peacekeepers had kept them just outside the palace. One couldn't be cautious enough after the Eldouir had turned up. Luckily, these fellows didn't have red hair. And they hadn't just emerged in the middle of the palace in a pool of blood. Cordelia waited for them to respond.

Elliot was beyond relieved when a man and an older woman turned up, surrounded by guards. This must be the Sylas they were looking for. "My lord, my lady", he said, curtseying and putting a hand on his chest. "Thank you for seeing us. Lorendale is in great danger. The Eldouir have taken up residence of the palace. Forgive me if I'm not facing you directly or correctly. While trying to save someone from Hiram Eldouir, he blinded me." He felt around until he felt Quinton's shoulder. "You've worked with someone my friend here knows, but I'll let him do the honours. It is quite some sensitive information, do it might be better to discuss it elsewhere."

Quinton would take his queue from Elliot, and he would give a slight bow, shallow enough that Elliot would not lose his grip on his shoulder, but deep enough to be properly polite, “My lord and lady,” he started, “My friend is correct. We are in desperate need of your help. I believe you have done business with Count Anslem Ellery’s family? He hails from the Wyndham family, a cousin of Fischer Wyndham? I am a very old friend of his,” the two men had practically grown up together. It made the manner of dear Simmy’s death that much more delicious, but he would never speak of how his old friend had perished.

A pinch between Sylas’ brow in displeasure of the news that the Eldouir were still clearly on a rampage and he cast a brief glance at Cordelia before turning his attention fully back to the men.
He knew no such Ellery but when Fischer was mentioned there was recognition on his face. Well this was interesting. If they had connections to Fischer, especially Fischer’s secret society, then this was information he very much was interested in.
He nodded in understanding. “Let us speak somewhere more privately, come,” he said and he moved down the steps and closer to them. He looked back at Cordelia, his express one to show that she was welcome to join them. He then snapped his fingers at one of the peacemakers and they spoke into a speakstone.
Moments later a wheeled carriage would come into view only it looked entirely different from a horse and carriage one would typically see. It was lower to the ground and had two rows of seats. Not benches but six individual leathered seats with three in each row. There were four doors, each opening with a hinge. The most notable difference of course would be that it was not being pulled by horses but seemed to move of its own accord. That was the help of an enchantment that Sylas has created himself. A person project he’s completed some time ago. (Yes, it’s a car lol)
Sylas approached the vehicle and a pair servants opened all four doors. “I know just the place,” he said and slipped into the front left seat a wheel was directly in front of him and various knobs and buttons rested on either side of it. He then looked towards his guests expectantly, waiting for them to join him.

Fischer's name still rang bells anywhere, apparently. Elliot was glad that Quinton had found that document about Sylas' involvement with Fischer. The prince also seemed to understand how sensitive the subject was, and suggested they speak somewhere more privately.
Elliot didn't see the wheeled carriage. He would have been impressed and in awe, but without vision, he had no idea what had approached. He would rely on Quinton to find a seat in the carriage.

Fischer? Cordelia frowned and glanced at Akagi. It seemed like he had been doing things similar to the ideas she currently had in his past, if he had worked with Fischer. She didn't comment on it.
Cordelia wasn't familiar with this enchantment of Sylas, but she was impressed. "Quite a ride", she told him with a soft chuckle as she followed him down the stairs, taking a seat in the passenger's seat. The two Lorendalers could sit in the back.

Indeed, it had been lucky that Quinton had come upon those documents. Dear Simmy…even dead, he was coming in useful. He was always that sort of fellow though. Something temperamental enough that it was far too easy to use him. He’d thought that usefulness vanished with his death, but what a delightful turn! It was almost enough for a genuine smile to tug on the corners of his mouth. Almost.
Then the Llewellyn brought out the most delightful contraption. It was like a carriage, but with no horses. A very male satisfaction filled him on seeing it. There was something about it that made him want to don a leather coat, and perhaps some sort of shaded spectacles and traverse the countryside inside of it. He wanted one just like it. He’d have his man servants polish it on the daily, “Very nice,” he’d say with genuine admiration. He’d help Elliot inside before entering it himself. He’d take a look around the inside and would admire it from his seat.

Sylas did appreciate the praise and the smallest of smiles appeared more in the corner of his eyes than on his lips. Never one for big visible emotion but who didn't enjoy the admiration of one's hard work? He tossed a word to the closest guard to tell them where they would be going so that they could be waiting outside of the establishment should a need arise and then with a push of a button the wheels began to turn and they were on their way.
The drive took them maybe ten minutes. Too far to want to walk but not a terrible distance. They ended up outside of a gentleman's club of sorts, though of course in Arynn Frey women were allowed in as well. Sylas led the way inside. It was filled with pipe smoke, the smell of alcohol, and Arynnite chatter, most of which was academic in nature. The owner approached Sylas right away with a little bow. "Welcome back, your highness," she said with warm, welcoming smile. "Your room is ready for you, as always."
"Thank you, Agatha," Sylas replied with a nod and they moved to a private back room that had been used by Sylas and his guests for at least the last year or so. A man approached to serve them drinks but Sylas dismissed him right away as they stepped into the room. Assuming everyone made it inside, the door would be shut behind them and Sylas turned to his guests. "Would you care for a drink or would you prefer to get right to it?" he inquired. There was a private bar in the room in which they could make their own drinks with the finest Arynnite liquor.

Thanks to the guidance of the people he was with, Elliot wouldn't slow down the group too much and they'd all find their way to the private rooms. Of course he had realised before how terrible it was to be without one's eyesight, but in an unfamiliar kingdom, it was even worse. He had heard tales of how beautiful Arynn Frey was, yet he couldn't see it for himself.
Elliot was already seated by the time Sylas asked his question, and he propped his cane up against the chair. "Perhaps both", he said with a smile. "I think we could all use a drink when discussing a topic such as this one."

“Indeed so,” Quinton agreed with his newest cohort, “this is certainly a topic that needs to be paired with spirits.” Depending if Quinton was invited to help himself or if he had to wait for a drink to be poured for him, he would do whatever was appropriate and wouldn’t speak on the matter until all who wished for a drink had one.
Where to start? There was much to be said, much to plan, but Quinton did not know how carefully he should tread with the people before him. However, if there was ever a time to be blunt, it was then, “Forgive me if I get straight to the point,” he started, “But I assume you know of Terra Nova’s issues with the Eldouir?” A pointless and rhetorical question, but he thought it was a good opener, “They seem to be a scourge on everybody these days, and they have made themselves particularly loud of late, my friend, myself, and recently you all have had to deal with there…” he twirled his drink, searching for the correct word, “shenanigans, to put it politely. We,” he gestured to Elliot and himself, “Would like to conspire with you on a way to keep them, and any other gifted with lofty and deadly ambitions in check.”

So it was agreed and drinks were poured. Sylas offered to pour one for Elliot of whatever he so choose and everyone else were invited to get there own. Soon enough they were all seated with drinks in hand, Sylas enjoying a rather fine bourbon that was his go to whenever he was here. He took a sip of the drink as Quinton began speaking and gently swirled the liquid in his glass as he listened.
He dipped his head in agreement to the first and obvious statement. Was there anyone in all of Terra Nova who was free from the scourge of the Eldouir, of course he was aware. He knew that his guests knew it too so he didn't bother to add unnecessary words to the conversation. Though as the man expressed his reason for being here, Sylas glanced briefly at Cordelia before he leaned further back in his chair. "It is tempting to point out that Arynn Frey already provided Lorendale with such assistance when the collars were first instated. However, I know enough to know that you must not be coming from the palace and thus have no say in what transpired to change that. And also that you must have your own agenda. So...what is that agenda exactly? Why come directly here rather than bringing this up with those in power in Lorendale?"
Post by Elliot Moore on Sept 7, 2024 8:24:35 GMT -5
Elliot grimaced at the mention of Arynn Frey having provided Lorendale with assistance before. He nodded along to what Sylas said, and decided he would answer mostly honestly instead of tactfully.
"It is a risky thing to say, but let me be the one to say it: Iliana does not care, and does not do anything, about the Gifted situation. The assistance and the enchantment Arynn Frey had given Lorendale before have not been used well, and have not solved the problem in the slightest. The people's concerns are swept under the rug, and apart from offering the Gifted a place in Raincourt Keep, there has been done absolutely nothing to provide safety from the Gifted with bad intentions." Elliot 'looked' at the Arynnites. "I would call us vigilantes. Arynn Frey knows how dangerous the Eldouir and bad Gifted can be. Lorendale turns a blind eye. That's why we come directly to you. It is time something is done about the Gifted. We need to neutralise them." It sounded innocent enough, and it was up to interpretation what he meant by 'neutralising' them.
Quinton could add to it, if he wanted, and whatever he wanted. Elliot would back him up.
