The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Othello had been given orders to meet with the Commander, Hadrian Usher , at the docks and it set a fire in the man's belly. To him it meant only one thing; his other baby was here! Completely resurrected! Finishing his current tasks the large collared gifted stalked off to the docks for his meeting with the Commander with his whimsical swept salt and pepper hair, neither were hard to miss and Othello offered the superior ranking officer Hadrian a respectful salute, "Commander Usher, came as soon as you requested how can I be of service?" the eagerness wasn't hidden in Othellos tone and the electric giddiness that buzzed from his gait, it took everything to keep his blue eyes focused on Hadrian and not eyeing every ship at the dock.

Hadrian liked to be on the docks. It reminded him of simpler times. While the Nevermereans had reconstructed the ship into a thing of beauty and—by this point—knew every inch of her, Hadrian thought it a gesture of goodwill to bring the Coheedsman Othello to inspect it. He might know things that they didn’t, after all. And without his gift? What harm was it?
Hadrian would greet Othello with a warm smile, noting the way that he conducted himself with military poise. At least Regan Lassiter had a single success to speak of.
“This is my Naval captain, Gustav. He's been overseeing the project to completion. Come,” Hadrian said, gesturing on board, “Let’s see what you think of her.” The Naval Captain and Hadrian would accompany Othello, with two witches loitering close by.

"Well met Captain Gustav and longer days, Othello Allemeade," Othello introduced himself (he often wondered if anyone here had ever met his Uncle Bayard; after all the man had left his family thousands of wheels behind for their former king, then again had Bayard perished? Why had he not sought his nephew? Odd random thoughts) giving another respected salute. It wasn't hard to spot the ship and it was like none Othello had ever saw, "She's...she's..," the usually big mouthed Gifted choked at first on his words he was perpetually slapped stupid with wonder, "beautiful..I've never seen such a gem in my life Captain!"
He followed the two men up the large plank blue wet eyes (he wasn't crying but his eyes were moist with joy) literally taking in every inch of the ship its craftsmanship blew the old husk of Arynnite ingenuity out of the water. Reaching the top of the plank and crossing the threshold to the deck his heavy boots came to stop again in wonder.

Hadrian couldn’t help but grin on seeing the boyish wonder on the rugged man’s features. Yes, she was a beauty. Arynn Frey had their enchantments, true, but there were few who could rival Nevermere’s shipwrights.
“The Windseeker,” Gustav piped up at Othello’s question, which made the old captain smirk. The man coughed a little, embarrassed while the commander chuckled.
“I rather think Gustav is soon to be wed to this vessel, given his devotion. He’d named her long before I’d thought to.”

Othello didn't turn around as the name dropped, "Oh...that's...that's pretty," his voice was comically whimsical with a hearty dash of sarcasm, "A very strong name," no it wasn't and if they could see the disappointment on his face they'd know the truth but he fixed his face before turning around, "Can we take her out? Show you what she had to offer Commander, Captain," he looked between the two men like a child asking if they could play.

“Not just yet,” Hadrian said easily, seeing the childlike wonder in Othello and fighting the instinct to be paternal, “His majesty the king has yet to clear her for service. I was, however, hoping you might give us a better sense of her capabilities.”

Annoyance instantly shifted into his frame, of course, he turned to start back down the plank and on the dock actually walking away from the Commander and Captain. He waved a dismissive hand, "Meh not just yet Commander, let me know when it's in service," he laughed actually, "Plus you both look like capable men, you'll figure it out."

Oh, but they would stop him. The guards would move to block Othello’s way. If he tried to push past them, they’d grab him by the shoulders. Hadrian, meanwhile, would not flinch. He’d raise a skeptical eyebrow as the Coheedsman-turned-Nevermerean soldier stalked away. If Othello stopped, Hadrian would speak.
“I know you are still learning our ways, Mister Allemeade, but know that a request from your Commander is as good as an order. Am I understood?”

"Then I guess we should agree to disagree Commander, do what you want but you can still figure it out on your own," Othello crossed his arms and stood his ground.

Hadrian allowed for one beat. One tense beat in which he gazed at the man-child in front of him. The atmosphere on the deck had shifted, those in the direct vicinity stopping in surprise with held breaths.
The commander believed in Nevermerean supremacy. He believed the ways of Coheed to be ones of self-serving barbarism. But Hadrian had foolishly believed that Lassiter had tamed Othello into something more civilized—predictably, once again Lassiter had failed. Hadrian had intended to use a carrot to endear himself to Othello, but it would seem it was the stick that was called for.
“Unfortunately for you, Mister Allemeade, in our military that is not an option.” His eyes snapped to the witch guards nearby, “Take him to the brig for insubordination.”
The witches would move to take him, one with a paralyzing curse ready on her tongue.

Othello blew the Commander a kiss, he wasn't going to resist, "I need the rest, thanks Commander," Othello would go willingly with the Witches. He didn't care anymore, "The ships name is dumb as well Captain."

The witches would haul Othello off to the brig. Hadrian would watch them go, sourness showing on his face only when the Lorendaler-turned-Coheedsman was out of sight. There was nothing Hadrian could do to right the wrong of Bex Brekker. All he could do was learn from his mistakes and bring any rogue agent into line. Any whiff of insubordination could be an indication of something deeper—and that was a risk that Hadrian couldn’t take.
A report of the incident would be sent to Cassian Rainecourt, which the king could do with what he wished. Their agreement was that after Cambria the gifted would be remanded to Hadrian’s care. He would request the ring at once and take it himself.
Othello Allemeade would spend two days in the brig without visitors under guard. His meals would be delivered and no timeline for his freedom was given. It was only then that he would be visited by the commander with Aldrich Abbott in tow.
