The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Embry was quite the delight herself. The idea of Peach cuddling with a dog was a very cute idea, and Scout smiled. "Oh my, that would be adorable", she said cheerfully. "Peach would absolutely love that. He's such a cuddle bug." She laughed at that thought. The dog wanting to run and Peach just trying to sleep on top of him.
She also asked if there were questions for her, and she listened to the ones Embry asked her. An active lifestyle, training, all those things. "That shouldn't be a problem. I'm planning on taking him to the palace most days, either by foot or running next to my horse, and I like active breaks, so I often go for a walk in the gardens. When I can't take him, I have people that can look after him, to make sure he gets to go out. The same goes for training. That's probably something I won't be able to take him to a lot myself, but I'll find people to take him." She smiled again, getting more and more excited about the idea of owning a dog like this one. "So yes, I'd be able to give him the activity he needs. The Kane lands are also perfect for that. He could even hunt there!"

Florina lifted her eyes from the puppy to look at October Montgomery, pink lightly tinting her cheeks. Was he…? No, surely not…but what if he was? Her aunt would be pleased. He was of a respectable family, and good looking. Stars, she would be pleased herself. Lord Montgomery seemed to be a good man, and good men were surprisingly difficult to come by in Loren.
She tried to imaging a young October watching the new puppies leave for new homes, and it brought a wistful smile to her face, “My experience has taught me that the most difficult lessons are the best sort of lessons. If I may be forward, my lord, you seem to have a kind heart.”

Rutger rubbed his hand over his jaw thoughtfully as Ikisina Navarro showed interested in training. "Hmm, yes, that is the trouble. Though..." he let his hand fall and he reached over to gently stroke the puppy in her arms, putting him closer to her. "If it's something you're truly interested in, I'm sure we could make some sort of arrangement," he suggested with a smile.
Embry beamed at Scout Kane. "It sounds like the perfect home! Seems you'd be a great fit," she began and was about to begin mentioned cost when her mother moved over to them. "Oh, Embry, the more orange of those two is no longer reserved, I forgot to tell you earlier," she said, giving Scout a little smile before she turned back to Tallis. Embry's eyes sparkled as she looked from her mother and back to Scout. "Well look at that. Perhaps it's fate," she said with a wink. "Would you still prefer this one?" she asked, gliding her fingers over the more colorful of the two puppies' ear.
October dipped his head humbly at her compliment and offered Florina Bellerose a smile. "Even a man who is armed nearly one-hundred percent of the time can surprise you in the softness beneath. It means a lot that you noticed, my Lady," he said softly. "And I couldn't agree more. There is often more to be learned and gained from a difficult lesson than gliding through life too easily. I'm sure you understand that all to well," he said. He knew she was a widow but not what her marriage had truly been like. "I hope you have found, and continue to find, your own good lessons."
He glanced down at puppy in her arms. "I do hope you take her, they really do make the most lovely of companions. Would you like to meet her sister? Get a little insight as to their typical temperament?" he suggested, glancing back over at his beautiful Faye.

Sina smiled softly as she watched as Rutger gently pet Ivy. Sina blushed softly, biting her lower lip at the attention she was getting. "I thought I let you know I am a collared gifted. I can't offer you a lot, but..." She used her free arm to reach forward and stroke his arm, closing the gap slightly. "I am interested."

This was not good. Scout had always had a soft spot for the unchosen and undesired. Once she laid eyes on a teddy bear as a child, she felt guilty for not taking it home because in her mind they had a bond, and she was abandoning it. So when mother Montgomery said that the other pup wasn't reserved anymore, Scout felt guilty for preferring that one over the mostly white pup. The guilt and doubt would be visible on her face. She couldn't get both. Litter syndrome and the amount of training would be too much for her alone.
After a moment of hesitation, she would speak. "I do prefer that one, but I would feel so bad leaving the other one behind", she said, the hurt visible in her eyes. "If- if the white one gets adopted, would you give the owners my contact information, so the dogs can have play dates?" She truly didn't want to simply leave the white one behind, but the more colorful one called her name.

Tallis lifted the hound’s paw, checking the pads and testing whether she objected at all to having her feet handled. She barely glanced at the woman when she approached, instead continuing her inspection.
“Obedience,” Tallis said simply, “I’m a rancher by trade. I have no need for an animal who will get trampled by the first runaway filly because they didn’t come when called. Other than that…” Tallis sighed, standing, “The foxes have been wrecking havoc on the smaller livestock. I’d like that taken care of.”

Rutger had no issues at all with Ikisina Navarro's gifted state, collared or not and expressed that with an easy smile, a smile that turned a bit headed as she made a move to reach out and touch him. It was just his arm but it was more than enough. "Mmmm," he hummed approvingly, reaching out to tuck a stray lock of hair behind her shoulder, his fingers lightly grazing her jaw and then her shoulder as he did so. "I have no doubt something can be arranged, my dear," he assured her, his gaze dropping to her lips before back up to her eyes. "Let's meet back up in a few days and I can see how you're adjusting to your new companion?" he suggested.
Embry could see the hesitation in Scout Kane's eyes and worried her lip thoughtfully with her teeth as she seemed to consider. "That could certainly be arranged. We rarely have trouble selling the pups so I don't imagine he'll be left behind." Perhaps Embry would take on this one herself even and have an excuse to meet with Scout more regularly and become friends.
"You could also consider taking both, I know it can be a challenge but I'm sure you can handle it and have help. We could even discount one if cost is an issue," she suggested, trying to find ways to ease the woman's discomfort.
Rhea nodded, truly loving Tallis Scorza's straightforward nature. She was a woman who knew what she needed. She wasn't going to let a man do something for her that she could do herself and she wasn't going to tiptoe around a subject in order to simply be extra nice. Rhea admired that. "Well then I think she'd be an excellent choice for you. Like I said, she's a skilled hunter. She's been around plenty of horses in her life and has always been alert and obedient. We kept her as a puppy because we saw real potential in her and wanted to make sure she could go to someone who could utilize those skills rather than becoming a lap dog. I have no doubt you'd be happy with her. She thrives off of a work environment and would get restless stuck in a house all the time."

Feeling a man's hand on her, there was a shimmy of joy in her eyes. nothing how eyes looked her lips a soft agreeable left them as her hand to his waist. Closing the gap she whisper in his ear, "mmm I looking forward to our meeting." She kissed under his earlobe, then pulling him away slightly as she wants him excited fir our meeting together.

“Oh yes,” Florina agreed, thinking back to her own hard lesson in life, , “It certainly builds character,” or in some cases, hurts their mind, making one more timid and scared. It frustrated her sometimes, how she had changed, but she wouldn’t tell him that. Not here at least. It was too happy a moment with all the playful puppies lumbering about, “I too hope that you discover good lessons,” and not the bad ones. His looks increased when he smiled, and she would hate for life to hit him hard enough to lose that expression.
“I would love to see the sister,” the puppy was so soft and warm in her arms, she couldn’t imagine not taking her, “What sorts of things should I expect with her breed?”

Scout looked from the puppies back at Embry. She considered what she said, then smiled. "Don't be silly", she said, in a kind way, not a condescending one. "You deserve full price for your beautiful and well bred dogs. I wouldn't accept a discount even if you offered one!" She laughed and petted the dogs. "Okay, you've convinced me. I'll take both. I'll hire a personal trainer for them so they get enough action and attention when I can't give it to them."
She then looked back at Embry, a puzzled look in her eyes. "Have I asked already if they have names?"

Rutger was quite pleased with himself and how this little arrangement had turned out. He loved Ikisina Navarro's little tease, leaving him wanting. The girl knew what she was doing and Rutger had no problem playing along with her game. Regardless of how this turned out, he was determined to enjoy every moment of it that he was lucky enough to have. "As do I, my dear," he told her before they exchanged coin for the pup.
By the time they walked back outside they appeared just as professional as when they'd entered the house. "Thank you very much for your business, and we will check in again soon," he told her, bending slightly at the waist politely.
Florina Bellerose was everything that a noblewoman was expected to be. She was absolutely lovely, inside and out, and carried herself with such point and grace, but there was something about her that October found intriguing. She was more than all that. She was a mystery, hiding the parts of herself that a mere acquaintance didn't need to see and it made him want to dig deeper, to find out what she really about.
But, he shook himself from his thoughts, right now they were supposed to be talking about dogs. "Salukis are very independent. They love to be at your side but are not typically lap dogs as adults. They love to lounge and but also love to run. They have a particular itch for chasing so getting her outside and chasing at least once a day will be best for her health and to get out any wiggles that could lead to bad behavior in the home. They also tend to be a bit shy and aloof, taking time to warm up to strangers but being very loyal and loving to their masters. They are very quiet and very gentle, especially with children and other pets. Honestly, at long as they get the exercise they need, they are truly amazing pets," he said with a smile.
He then gave a little whistle towards his dogs, "Faye, here," he called to his own Saluki. She seemed to look at him at if deciding if she wanted to get up but then soon stood and jogged over to them where she sat down by his feet as he reached down to scratch behind her ears. "This is Faye, she shares a mother with your pup," he said. Faye sniffed at the air towards Florina and the puppy in her arms, ears slightly lifted in interested.
Embry squealed just loud enough when Scout Kane said she wanted to take both that it drew October's attention and he smiled over at his sister and Scout. He only knew the woman in passing but he'd only ever heard good things about her. It wasn't a lingering look though as he turned back to Florina. "Oh I'm so glad you're taking them both," Embry said delightedly, you're going to make the cutest little family. Embry definitely believed that pets were part of the family even if her parents, having been in this business for a very long time, did not at all agree.
"No, they don't have names as we like to give their new owners the chance to name them fresh. We use different color collars to differentiate between each pup in a litter. So that's entirely up to you," her eyes sparkled with joy knowing that these two brothers would get to stay together.

Scout chuckled at Embry's excitement. She was quite excited herself. Her household would be much fuller and lovelier with those two pups. "They will be a great addition to the family, I agree." She gave both of them some more scratches while she listened to Embry explain that naming them was up to the new owner. "I'll need to have a good, long think about fitting names for these darlings, then." She looked at the orange pup and placed a finger against her lips. "Maybe Ivor." She thought about it a little longer before moving on to the other one. She didn't have to decide right now. "And for you, maybe Myer."
She looked at Embry to see what she thought. Then, more business. "So, I'm ready to pay you, if that's alright with you. For both dogs and training. One last question, when would they be old enough to come home?"

“Alright then,” Tallis said resolutely, putting her hands on her hips, “I’ll take her. What is it I owe you?”
The baroness was clearly pleased with her purpose. She looked at the dog with pride, as if she’d raised it herself and was responsible for it’s beauty. Or that it was a treasure that she’d plundered and was excited to make use of.

Embry watched Scout Kane with a spark in her eyes, practically bouncing in her excitement as the woman considered names for the puppies. "Awww, those are so cute! I love those names," she said with delight. She told her how much the both of them would be along with training expenses before answering her final question. "Right now! We usually wait to show them to the public until they are ready in order to decrease risk of them accidently getting sick from someone. If you aren't ready though we can hold them for you until you are," she explained with a smile, running her hand over one of the puppy's back.
Rhea smiled at Tallis Scorza, delighted by how easy this sale was, especially for one of the adults. "Wonderful, I'm so delighted for you both," she said before telling her how much coin the beautiful Borzoi would be and waited for payment. "It's been a pleasure doing business with you, I hope you tell your friends and family about us." Word of mouth was one of the best ways they got new buyers.

Scout smiled, happy that Embry liked the names. She also told her the prices and explained about the training expenses, and Scout listened and nodded. Apparently the pups were ready to go home immediately as well, which made her smile with a twinkle of excitement in her eyes. "Wonderful! I'm totally ready." She looked at Ivor and Myer. "Are you ready to go home?" she asked the pups, the both of them wagging their tail when she asked them. She then took out her purse to collect the money she owed Embry, handing it to her. "There we go!"
