It was that time of year again. The Ver festival in Nevermere hosted by the Twofold Goddess Coven. Not everyone followed their practices, but this was one of their larger celebrations that normally draws large groups forward. The first big event after a long Hiems, though Nevermere didn't seem to have a dull moment during that time. With Ver now here, life was starting to show back up in the landscape. And with a little bit of witchcraft help, there were plenty of fresh blooms ready for the festival.
The streets lined with venders that had buckets of flowers at the ready, available for women to build their wreaths (or crown of flowers) that would be sent out at the setting sun later in the day. Other venders had food ready, most with mead and wine ready to go. A large town square was filled with live music and welcomed dancing to happen all around. A large stage was set up in the town square for the performers to take place. Another, taller and more grand sitting area not too far from it, ready for the possibility of the Nevermeran royal family to make an appearance.
Excitement filled the crisp air, bright colors filling the streets, the smell of florals filled the air, as Nevermere prepared for Ver to finally come back home.
Festival Group Thread Rules:
- This is a celebration that the Coven of the Twofold Goddess hosts every year. Meaning that not everyone in Nevermere follows this coven, but everyone is welcomed to join in on the celebrations and fun.
- Please wait two posts between your last one so that way others do not take over the thread. If you want to split into separate threads, please make sure to link to it in your post in this thread. And then re-post in here once your characters have re-joined.
- We will start off with the day celebration for now, and then I will post at a later date when we switch into the night ceremony.
- Last, but certainly not least: HAVE FUN! This is a fun little event for us all. Commoners, Nobility, Royalty, visitors (if they are already approved to be in Nevermere) alike are welcomed!{Spoiler - More Info on the Spring Festival}Unmarried women who are seeking love weave a wreath of vines and flowers to wear during the blessings. Noblewomen often have access to more flowers, resulting in a more colorful wreath, while commoners often include ferns and other more easily accessed plants in their wreaths. These young women are blessed, like the seeds, with a prayer for new life, vitality, and love.
At sunset, the women place candles in their wreaths and float them on the waves of the sea. The fate of one’s wreath is said to be an omen for your chances of finding love that year: a wreath that is successfully carried away on the waves represents good fortune, a sinking wreath represents bad luck and heartbreak, and if a young man manages to catch a woman’s wreath it is believed the goddess blesses their connection.
