The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

Count Quinton Featherton invites all Lorendalers—noble and common alike—to his costumed ball. This will count as a gathering thread for leveling purposes.
The midpoint of Aestas had passed, the heat was starting to cool, and most importantly, the mansion was decorated appropriately for the occasion. Servants bustle about, carrying trays of alcoholic drinks and various finger foods, others stood near the doors, ready to take cloaks and escorts guests in after checking for a valid invitation. Each guest would be announced as they entered Quinton Featherton’s newly renovated ballroom. Light mood music would already be playing in the background, the intension of putting the guests in the proper partying mood. The room bustled with guests of all ranks—unusual for a count, but the striking man stood with such a jovial smile, some may forgive him for allowing the riff raff to join while others may not.
-All attendees should have received an invitation they will need to present at the door if they wish to get in -Attendees are asked to arrive in their finest nature-themed costume. Come as an animal, a plant, or an element, it matters not! -The ball will start with mingling and finger foods and drinks followed by dancing through the night. Quinton Featherton will dictate when one moves to the other in this thread -Please wait two posts between your last one so that way others do not take over the thread. If you want to split into separate threads, please make sure to link to it in your post in this thread. And then re-post in here once your characters have re-joined.
***Please allow Quinton Featherton to post first. After that, there is no posting order.

With all of the events of the last few months, Quinton had nearly missed that the renovations to his house had finally been complete. He was quite pleased with the results. From the rose gold color that now colored the walls which were once a very dark and drab gray, to the gold filigree that decorated the pillars in the ballroom. Everything was just right, and there was only one way to fully celebrate the completed renovations.
He would throw a ball. But not just any ball—a costumed one. Of course he would invite commoners too. With the loss of Simmy, Quinton had had more time to spend on his other…hobbies…and having all the potential new “acquaintances” come to him would be much easier than skulking about town searching for a commoner that no one would miss should he decide to take her as a mistress. The thought of a fresh faced girl to focus all his attentions on nearly made him feel a stir of glee. His current mistress was nearly used up, and was not as much fun as she used to be. She no longer flinched or screamed, being broken as she was. Ah well. Such was life.
Quinton, dressed in all black, with feathers resembling that of a ravin beautifully sewn into his jacket in a cape-like way—his wings. He would wait for his guests, flashing them a well-practiced, smile full of delight and joy, something he’d never felt, but had studied on the faces of others.

Truth be told Mysie wasn't going to turn down a chance to go to an event, especially when there is a chance to wear something nature-themed. It will give her a chance to meet people and get onto the scene a bit more. She thought for a while about what she wear and in the end she decided on going with this dark purple dress that has hints of light purple, giving an illusion of storm clouds.
As she walked in she bowed her head to the host. "Thanks for hosting a beautiful event Lord Quinton Featherton you got a beautiful place." Mysie hold herself very well and with the upmost respect. She wasn't going to be pushed around.

With everything that had been going on recently, Scout could really use some worry-free fun. She didn't know what to expect from the ball and the people attending, but her maids had taken their time trying to get her to let go of any worries she had so she could enjoy some casual conversations and drinks. Her tailors had gone all out as well, and had created a beautiful butterfly inspired dress for her. Her hair was slicked back and slightly curly at the bottom, and decorated with a headpiece with antennas. Something Scout had struggled with for a few years now, was not feeling beautiful. The men in the military had considered her as one of the boys and everything had always been platonic between them. She hadn't married out of love, and nobody had ever confessed their love for her. This flapper-like dress showed her great figure, which she did in fact have but had always covered under loose fitting clothes, and the wings just drew a lot of attention to her (they are a bit smaller than in the picture so she doesn't bump into everyone).
The blonde wasn't going with anyone in particular, but she hoped she would see Augustus Rainecourt there. She had been stupid to kiss him, but he was always so kind to her, and she felt appreciated by him.
The Lady Steward entered the room.
"Lady Steward Scout Kane!" the announcer called out as she entered. She smiled politely at him and looked around, greeting some familiar faces here and there as she walked through the crowd. When a servant passed, she grabbed herself a drink and took a polite sip.
For now she wouldn't approach anyone specifically, but she would hang around the middle of the room.
Magic Detection: The ability to detect magic. The user can judge magical aptitude, pinpoint magic being used within a mile vicinity, and even detect when potent magic has formerly been used in a space. The magic may originate from a living thing or from an object, it does not matter. There is no restriction to the kind of magic that the user can detect. The weakness is the spatial awareness limitation, and while the user can detect the presence of magic, they cannot detect the specific kind of magic being used.

Florina was very happy to have something to distract her of all the troubling things that were going on in her life. What she’d hoped would be a lovely few months with her favorite aunt had turned into a nightmare, and she hadn’t been so frightened since her husband had been alive. A ball would be just the thing, and it had been a long time since she had attended a costumed affair.
Florina arrived at the ball wearing a garden-themed dress. Her hair had been curled, and flowers braided throughout her dark tresses. She’d been very pleased with the dress, but she had wistfully thought that her friend…or she supposed former friend with her accidental betrayal of Oriana…well, she could have made something better.
She presented her invitation at the door and walked in as the servant announced her arrival. She quickly greeted their host, Quinton Featherton wondering why she hadn’t spoken to the man more with how charming he was before turning toward the room. Her eyes immediately fell on Scout Kane’s wings and she made her way to her friend.
“Scout,” she said, grinning, “How lovely to see you here. I do love your costume. It suits you very well indeed.”
Ring of Charisma - This ring will give the wearer when twisted around three times a boost of confidence and listeners to be compelled to believe and trust her.
The Mirror of Sight- will be able to locate and see where a person is doing, by say their full name.

Annabeth has received an invitation to this event. a part of her didn't want to go. there would be loads of people there and she was worried that she would be judged for what she did. however, she had been tasked to do a job and truth be told she was nervous. Annabeth wouldn't know how to do this. However, the knowledge that she has to serve her kingdom and social events might be a step in the direction she needs to go.
Looking for a while at the invitation she noticed that it was a themed ball and it was to be natured themed. A part of her stomach twisted as she thought of was Remiel Allemeade . She just prayed that he wasn't going to be at the ball cause she didn't know how she was going to handle herself if he was there. She knows she can't think about him and she needs to push him from her mind.
After a while she picked a star themed dress on top she wore a gold silk clock to keep herself warm on the travel as well as keep herself modest at the party. As she arrived she announced her arrival and scan the room noticing Scout Kane and who she assums was the niece of the prince Florina Bellerose. She been advice to not to interact with the Kane family for this to work and she just hope that Scout understands that she isn't being rude but trying to protect herself.

Alaric had been surprised to receive an invitation to Count Featherton’s ball. He’d done a painting for the man some years ago, and had assumed that he was going to hire his services again. But to receive an invitation…this was an opportunity that he would be a damned fool to miss out on!
He had been clever with his costuming. Being a commoner, he was not able to hire the best of tailors, and his friend, Oriana, had seemed to go missing, so she could not help him. Luckily he had other artist friends and access to suppliers that with an exchange of money and promises to take less than savory portrait commissions off his friend’s hands, he had a costume. He came dressed as a quail. His clothes were all blacks and browns with feathers (gained from quail pens and ones he found on his treks in the woods) placed here and there for texture and emphasis. On his head, he wore his customary hat, but moved his lucky feather from the side of the hat to on top of it, and managed to make it stand straight up. He knew how ridiculous it looked, but he was an artist and he told himself it was only expected of him to be very silly.
He would pick a place to stand on the side of the room, swiping a drink off of a tray as it passed him. He’d people watch for a bit, see if he knew anybody that entered or if there as anybody that looked decent to talk to…or proposition for a portrait.

When she received an invitation to a ball, she wanted to rip it up and throw it into a fireplace, thinking that this was some cruel joke to make her look like an even bigger idiot than she already was. There was a pain in the pit of her stomach that she didn't need to go that this was a massive trick. Like why would a count invite a commoner to a party, like she never met this count? Sina was sure that he had no idea who this woman was. However, here she was invitation in hand, shaking in fear.
However, she takes a deep breath and looked through all of her dresses that she has and traced her fingers along them if she styled it right and add a silk martial around her neck and then styled her hair she hoped that she can give the impression of a black stallion. The dress was of good quality and was one of the last few dresses she got herself well she still could afford it.
Thankfully the party was 2 hours away by horseback, but as Ikisina was a commoner she doesn't know how to ride a horse so she got a carriage there and paid the fee. When she arrived she thank the man who invited her to the gathering then entered the room were the ball was as she scanned the room her eyes landed on a familiar face Alaric Melbourne. Her face widen and relaxed slightly as she walked towards him. "And here I was thinking I wouldn't know anyone, it lovely to see you again Alaric."

Winifred had been delighted to receive an invitation to the costumed ball. She was well past her dancing years, but balls were an excellent way to spy who was interested in who. Opportunity arising, she’d give a little push here, a nudge there. Many romances had started at a ball!
Although she’d well gone past the mourning period, Winnie still wore mostly black on a day-to-day basis. She thought about doing something colorful, but did not want to draw any attention away from the young ladies. So she dressed as a black cat. She wore a long, black silk gown with a belt cinched around her wait that sported a tail at the back. Her maid had arranged her hair in a braided bun at the back of her head and completed the ensemble with jeweled hair pins that resembled cat ears.
She would pick a spot to sit down that was well out of the way. Mingling was well and good, and she would do so later, but she wanted to watch the young people to see who they’re interested in and if she might be able to help.
Post by Azazel Eldouir on Jan 12, 2024 15:53:07 GMT -5
Azazel had not been invited. It was hard to get an invitation when no one knew you were in town...and your family was enemy of the kingdom. But he'd happened to hear a conversation between a couple of commoners, invites in hands, as they excitedly talked about actually being invited to such an event. Unfortunately, one of them wouldn't be able to go in the end because by the next morning they wouldn't be able to find their invitation. Such a shame.
Azazel, hair dyed dark with clothing dye, had an idea for a costume but he wasn't sure he could pull it off well himself. Instead, he'd asked around about a talented artist. It was easy to do. With his hair color hidden and having left Lorendale as a mere boy, there was no way anyone would be familiar with his face or name. He was referred to a commoner artist by the name of Alaric Melbourne. He wasn't hard to find either and Azazel proposed to the idea to the man in exchange for payment and the man was only too eager to accept the job.
Azazel offered his invitation to the person at the door and stepped inside with a rather bold costume. He was covered head to toe in paint, the colors and design mimicking the design of a galaxy of stars. The only thing he wore was a piece of leather than protected his manhood and which was also painted to match his body. He strode in proudly, muscled ass cheeks out for everyone to see and not a care in the world. He did catch Alaric's eye as a woman approached him and he smirked with a flirty wink to the straight man as he cockily strode around the room.

Alaric was in the middle of taking a sip of his beverage when Ikisina Navarro spoke to him. He turned to her and flashed a bright smile at her, "Ah! If it isn't Sina," he gave her a deep, dramatic bow from his waist, careful to not stab her with his lucky feather, "How long has it been, my dear? I daresay you have gotten lovelier since I saw you last."
As he greeted Sina, Alaric's eye caught on Azazel Eldouir, and he responded to the man's friendly smile with a friendly one. Alaric had all sorts of clientele, and he certainly was familiar with the type that preferred to bed those that were not of the opposite sex. For some reason, men who leaned that way tried to woo Alaric that way. The first time it had happened, he assumed it was because of his looks like with his lady clients, but it kept happening. He truly did not know why other men would keep hitting on him since he did not make a habit of flirting with other men. He supposed that he may find out one day, and until that day came, he would just remain friendly. No need to offend a potential repeat customer by being rude.
Plus, the young man was likely by far one of Alaric's more favorite clients of late. No one had ever asked him to use their body as a canvas--and if he were being honest, Alaric had briefly wondered if the young man was coming on to him (and now that he was thinking of it, he really had to figure out a safe way to offer that service to woo his lady clients). The costume was unorthodox, and Alaric truly hoped that Azazel did not get sick from the various paints he used. The glowing effect was particularly inspired, if he said so himself. A little phosphorus here, a little onyx and lapis lazuli there...

When Alaric Melbourne bowed dramatically, she couldn't hold back a small laugh. "haven't changed one bit I see, always putting a smile on my face." it was true that talking to Alaric has a was to make her currently issues that on her mind seems to vanish. "It has been too long indeed since we last saw each other, i think the last time is when you were painting a picture and you called me 'your muse.'" Of course she doesn't really believe that she was anyone muse, however in that moment in time, it felt lovely to have somebody calling her a muse.
Sina eyes traveled to who Alaric was looking at to see a man ( Azazel Eldouir ) who was fully painted from head to toe apart from some leather that covered his manhood, it was bold and it indeed brought colour to her cheeks and she turned to look away, she can't afford to stare, she has to keep her wits about her, lay low, composed. People don't stare, but most people are not brave, nor stupid enough to walk around basically naked. "I take it your the master of the walking art work Alaric?"

The Scorza, and Tallis’s new pet ward came as a unit. Tallis was on her husband Cezar Scorza ’s arm, wearing a dress to match the suit he was wearing. On her other side was Gianna Pasqualin , who she intended to keep a close eye on. No, she didn’t think the girl was a flight risk at this stage, but she’d grown rather attached to the nasty little brat and didn’t want to take any chances.
With her curls pinned atop her head with golden pins, Tallis was buzzing with excitement. She looked over at Acacia Scorza , as if to make sure that she hadn’t imagined her and that she was indeed a dream made of flesh, blood, and bones.
“Shall we?” Tallis asked, looking up at Cezar and then over to Gianna Pasqualin .
Spider Physiology - the power to possess the abilities of a spider. For Acacia, this consists of five elements (venomous bite, webs, enchanted strength, enhanced eyesight/darkvision, the ability to crawl up walls).

Acacia, in a dress full of flowers, walked besides Cezar Scorza . She really missed her twin and wondered where they could be, because for now she didn't have anyone's arm to hold, which left her feeling a bit awkward and alone. Tallis Scorza had her husband's arm and Gianna Pasqualin , while she was just walking besides them. Yet she was happy. She had found her family.

But Acacia Scorza wouldn't feel alone for too long, without having an inkling of the loneliness she was currently feeling, Cezar turned to her with a smile and offered his arm. No need for only of them to be disconnected, though he knew it wouldn't take long before they parted in order to fully enjoy this soiree. He had not quite fully warmed up to Gianna Pasqualin as Tallis had but had no qualms about arriving with her either.
Tallis Scorza, of course, had been the one to suggest their current outfits but Cezar had to admit he rather liked them. Bees were essential to the survival of many plants and the ecosystem and they were beautiful but could be dangerous, just like the Scorzas. His watchful gaze scanned the room for anyone of note though some of the costumes made it harder to recognize people than others.
