The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Magic Detection: The ability to detect magic. The user can judge magical aptitude, pinpoint magic being used within a mile vicinity, and even detect when potent magic has formerly been used in a space. The magic may originate from a living thing or from an object, it does not matter. There is no restriction to the kind of magic that the user can detect. The weakness is the spatial awareness limitation, and while the user can detect the presence of magic, they cannot detect the specific kind of magic being used.

Everything happened so fast, Florina wasn’t sure what happened at first. There had been so much magic flowing around the room, it was dizzying. Then there was the fire, the burst of magic so sharp and sudden that Florina barely had time to attempt to turn her face away from the source. She’d try to crouch down in an effort to protect herself from the flames. Then the feeling of magic was gone. For the first time in years, Florina felt no magic. Later, she might marvel at the sensation of feeling normal, but at that moment, her panic was bubbling up in her tummy. Violence of any sort would always bring back horrible memories of her husband. Granted, he’d never set her on fire, but the effect was the same.
Florina will try to make herself rise from her crouched position, but would find her legs very shaky. Her panic made her unable to get her thoughts in order. What had Ori done? Why had she attempted such a thing? She would surely hate her now that she’d given her away, even if it was unintentional. The real question though…did Florina care?

Cassian instinctively raised a hand to shield his eyes from the fire. He felt the heat, but not the burn. Regan was next to him, after all. But the ring had done its work, and her flames were extinguished as quickly as they had come, leaving Cassian with…regret.
He turned immediately to his wife. She was protected by October Montgomery. Cassian nodded, gratitude towards the man soaring, before he turned back to his witch. He too did not know what had happened, but he knew that Regan had just hurt a lot of people. He looked down at her, a neutral expression to most, the disdain only in his eyes. Alys’ words returned to him. Had he let someone dangerous close?
The next moment he was sinking into a crouch. Dangerous or not, she was his, and it was his responsibility. His hand reached out to touch her face.
“Regan?” There was commotion, and Cassian looked up, remaining protectively close to his huntsman and pack member.

Felicity was outside because she didn’t want to be stuck in a room full of gifteds. The only time a gifted had ever done something good for her was when one had saved her life, imparting the Coheed abilities it had sucked from its victim to heal her. And her husband. Beyond that, she’d experienced more gifted attacks and militias incompetence than likely anyone else in the kingdom…except perhaps her husband.
When the “No” was here, Felicity was quick to react. She turned towards the door, ripping it open, her king dagger in her other hand, just as the fire erupted. Felicity stepped back quickly, her enhanced speed possibly saving her from any damage. Either way, she was in the hall outside the room, prepared to face whatever came out of the room.
Oriana wasn't sure why Florina Bellerose had done what she had. She also wasn't sure why no one was dead. It seemed like everyone was against her, even those she thought her friends. Certainly Flo was a gifted traitor, one she now wished she could kill. But there was no chance she would ever become collared like that weak red head. She would rather die.
And so she reached out for Remiel's hand giving it a squeeze before stabbing herself with her necklace. The horn would go in through her chest and pierce as many vital organs as she could. "I love you Remi."
Her eyes then turned to Florina. "You are a traitor to gifteds. You killed me and I hope you die too." A woman who decided to out her own friend was not someone who deserved to live. The woman she had just yesterday shared her news with. What a two-faced bitch.
But Remi. Poor Remi. Hopefully he would understand.
Felicity Zane had opened the door to the room just before the flame burst and was able to avoid the blast due to her speed enhancement though now remained guarding the open door.
As flame erupted in the room the Queen, @iliana, had taken a stumble back and bumped into October Montgomery. Though unaware of what she was doing, an iridescent shield reacted in her favor, surrounding herself and October in a shield that was short-lived. It would be easily unnoticed, especially as most people were busy being briefly scorched. In fact, only Augustus Rainecourt and October had caught the briefest glimmer of it but even that would cause them to question if they’d really seen anything, the only curiosity was that both Iliana and October had been unaffected by the fire.
In the aftermath of the blast Scout Kane would effectively put out the fire on her clothes before any further damage occurred and would subtly and successfully activate her ring. Remiel Allemeade had been at an unfortunate angle to the chaotic nature of the flames and, having not shielded his eyes, the left eye had been burned and was causing pain and temporary blindness.
Iliana quickly directed Tybalt Zane to stop the perpetrator and he reacted as the exceptionally trained Commander that he was. He was at Oriana’s side within seconds. Oriana had taken the necklace in her hand but Tybalt was quicker. Raising his sword he slammed it against Oriana’s temple, causing her to instantly fall to the ground, unconscious, before she could drive the necklace into her body or say anything to Remi or Florina Bellerose.
Augustus stepped in front of Scout just as Cassian looked up from Regan Lassiter to see what was going on with Oriana and Tybalt. For now it seemed the threat was neutralized.
-Injuries for Scout, Elena, Augustus and Florina are first degree burns, particularly on exposed skin. A first degree burn is equivalent to a sun burn and will heal without much help and in only a few days time. They would also experience singed and hair and clothes. -Remi’s injuries are the same as above with the addition of the eye injury. It is still much like a sunburn and could heal just fine on its own or become infected in the following days. If it remains untreated it would cause permanent blindness in that eye but would not need to be removed. -Scout has +10 combat points for the next 10 posts with her ring. -Both Regan and Oriana will remain unconscious for the rest of the thread (unless an attempt is made to revive them) -No post order, try to get posts in within 48 hours

With the situation apparently neutralized, Cassian looked to Florina Bellerose. He still did not release magic back into the room. His gaze bounced warily towards the other gifted.
“What has just happened?” He asked the only one who would have the slightest clue.

Not another person would exit that room without being stopped by Felicity, until she was called off, of course. She held on dagger high, at about neck height, dark eyes peering warily into the room as she moved closer. She would see two bodies on the floor, her heart sinking. Again. Attacked by a gifted again, she assumed. Her eyes found Tybalt, ensuring he was okay, and then she listened to what the King of Nevermere asked a random woman.
Arynnite armor: The armor have two states: active and inactive. When inactive, they look like little more than ornate metal bracers, easily ignored. When triggered, the armor covers Tybalt and serves as an exoskeleton. It will protect its wearer from physical damage and is practically indestructible.
The armor has a certain "preprogrammed" purpose which is to protect its host. To do so, it reacts to heightened emotional states such as fear and anger, at which point the armor will trigger regardless of whether or not Tybalt wants it to or even if he's immediately aware of the threat. It has some degree of awareness and sentience although very basic and one which struggles to differentiate between enemies and friends. Whilst not actually in possession of a will, the armor can guide or direct its host in a specific action, much like a reflex.
The armor needs to be "fed" as Tybalt has discovered meaning that he must hold and absorb through touch certain metals such as steel, copper, iron and tin, a process which takes a few minutes. Without which, the armor will begin to weaken and become less effective until no longer able to manifest.
Perhaps its greatest weakness is that if being consistently bashed or beaten, it would begin to repair itself by using parts of the armor from elsewhere. For instance, if the wearer is being consistently hit in the chest, the armor will begin to pool away from other parts of their body such as the feet and hands, leaving them vulnerable.

There was a certain sense of relief for the commander when he did manage to reach Oriana. Much like Cassian, he had no idea what had just happened. His sole preoccupation was ensuring that it couldn't happen again. In truth, the man was only partially aware of his surroundings, having not had the time to take them in properly prior to then. He kept a weary eye on the woman he had just knocked unconscious, least she show any signs of awakening. For the time being, she seemed to be out for the count.
Doctors would probably have counseled against using blunt force trauma as a form of sedative, but Tybalt belonged to a different school of thought.
Seeing some of the urgency in the situation, the man turned back towards the door and his wife. He would call out, without offering any explanation. "We need a collar quickly!" A reminder of who he was speaking to would be enough to cause him to think to add but a single word. "Please." Tybalt wouldn't budge away from the unconscious Oriana's body, his sword drawn and ready to be used should she awaken and cause trouble again. He would only risk a very slight distraction by listening to whatever insight there might be to be found about the sudden apparent attack.
Iliana let her eyes skip around the room. Landing on Cassian Rainecourt and the sudden gentle touch, or so she perceived it, to Regan Lassiter’s face. Her gut tightened, and she wasn’t sure if it was due to the idea the woman might be dead or the tenderness she saw. It wasn’t until she heard it that she looked away: ‘collar’.
Naturally she wanted to say no, but as she looked around the room, as Elena Eldouir complained about her hair and she caught the singed edges of the clothing of those around her, did she fall silent. She turned to one of her guards who stood wide eyed. “A healer,” her voice finally gained its volume. “We need some healers, now.” And the guard would be on his way, breaking into a run.
She would attempt crossed the room, seeking to take the registry to look for any listed gifteds with the ability to heal. It might be their best hope for the witch.

Remiel was climbing back to his feet holding the left side of his face and he now he was starting to draw the rest of what had happened, he saw Tybalt standing over the woman he was to marry with a sword drawn and she was unconscious it seemed.
"what did you do Ori?" but he was looking between Tybalt and Oriana, then the Queen and Regan. Anger. Bitterness. He couldn't breath as he backed away from them all before falling to a knee, "what did you do..," was all he could repeat, he sounded tired and he sounded defeated. For the first time in his life Remiel felt the most alone in his life; he wish he could turn into the wind and leave like Bryce. He wanted to erase this moment from his mind like Honora could. Remi felt as dead as Luna. It was all over...again...

Subconsciously, Scout had placed a hand on Augustus Rainecourt's back when he moved to stand in front of her. Not to push him away, but because she was thankful and because she felt safer now that the prince had formed a shield between her and what was happening in the room. Her clothes weren't on fire anymore, but she would have to get a haircut. Some of her hair had burned off and was shorter than the rest of it.
She would move to stand next to Augustus, and looked at Remiel Allemeade. "Tell us what you know about Oriana, Remiel. Tell us how her gift manifests." If her gift was bone healing, then what had she intended to do to the king and Regan, she asked herself. She was having difficulty believing it was just bone healing.
At the same time, her attention didn't leave Elena Eldouir. She would not let this moment of confusion and chaos be an opportunity for the Eldouir to escape.

Florina, still trembling in her crouched position on the floor stared at Cassian Rainecourt with wide eyes. Seeing what they did to Ori…even if she had been about to use her magic for what could only be ill intentions.
“I,” Florina swallowed, not liking that she could hear the trembling in her voice, “I’m not sure exactly…I was about to leave the room, when I felt her magic. I do not believe she can only mend bones, your majesty,” it felt like tattling, but Florina had already given Ori away. There could be nothing to be gained if she feigned ignorance after she’d cried out the way she had.

October gave the queen a quick once over to ensure that she was unharmed though a curious expression lingered in his eyes. What had just happened that ensured the two of them remained unaffected like most others in the room? What was the glimmer he'd seen, however brief it had been? Now was not the time to ask. He stepped back to allow her space once more to do what she needed to but kept an ever vigilant watch on the room lest something else go wrong.

Elena completely ignored everyone else in the room. Two people had been knocked unconscious...or were dead...but this wasn't her doing. Nothing she had done had caused anyone lasting damage actually. Though she supposed there was still some fault on her part given that they wouldn't be gathered in this room if it wasn't for her. Regardless, she didn't look around at anyone but continued to move her fingers through her singed curls, a pouty expression on her face.

Remiel couldn't speak and plus the traitor seemed to know it all, he couldn't stand the sight of her. He couldn't stand any of them.
"She could do stuff to bones, I..I...broke my arm once and she reset it and mended it that's the extent of what..what I know," he stood cupping his eye staring at the unconscious form of Oriana. He didn't have to ask what was going to happen to her, his heart and brain told his soul.
