The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!

Upon Saelim’s report, Cassian nodded. Elena Eldouir. A name he wouldn’t be forgetting anytime soon. They had to take care of registry business first, and then it would be time for them to handle the illegal activity of this woman. She’d been at the trial. She was a criminal in Lorendale.
“You.” He was looking at Florina Bellerose. “Come forward and state your name.” He didn’t expect resistance, considering her relatives.
Even with October Montgomery at her side, with Regan Lassiter at Cassian Rainecourt’s, Iliana’s eyes couldn’t leave the Eldouir. Not with the smile that had been give by her, something that made her pretty in the way a venomous snake had its bright colors. Something that some might see as a welcoming thing, but Iliana saw it as a warning. Little alarm bells ringing in her head and collar or no, she didn’t trust to let her eyes linger far or long from her.
Which is why her eyes briefly passed over the woman that Cassian called forth next and then shot to @mara. It was only then that she thought of Augustus… why was he not in the room? Had something happened to him? Brows scrunching slightly, she once again found Elena Eldouir in her sights.

A shiver went down Scout's spine when the redhead stated her name. This was the first time since the trial that she saw an Eldouir, and this one was far closer to her than last time. The woman was pretty successful at hiding how uncomfortable she was with Elena in the room, especially after having heard her Gift.
Then Florina Bellerose was called forward, and Scout was curious to hear what Gift her friend possessed. The thought that Florina wasn't registered didn't even cross her mind.

Remiel let Oriana squeeze his hand as tightly as she needed, he didn't look at Elena. She wasn't Hiram. She wasn't Myla. She still seemed childish enough to do what she had done but not experienced enough to escape...she was the lesser of evils in truth. He hated this. He wanted to tell his kind to just give their name and resolve their names but Remiel feared his words would be turned against him. He stood quietly waiting their turn.
Magic Detection: The ability to detect magic. The user can judge magical aptitude, pinpoint magic being used within a mile vicinity, and even detect when potent magic has formerly been used in a space. The magic may originate from a living thing or from an object, it does not matter. There is no restriction to the kind of magic that the user can detect. The weakness is the spatial awareness limitation, and while the user can detect the presence of magic, they cannot detect the specific kind of magic being used.

Even though the attention was on the Eldouir, Florina could scarcely pay attention to what was being said. She registered some of it…what her power was, and what she heard made sense. What else could have caused the scene at the announcement? She noticed Scout Kane’s reassuring smile, and she managed to smile back. What would her new friend think of her hiding that she was gifted?
Cassian Rainecourt turned his attention to her, and Florina forced herself to take a deep, calming breath before stepping forward as her king demanded. All would be well, she told herself. She managed an elegant curtsy, years of practice and training coming to her aid, “Your Majesty,” she said, proud that only a little quiver gave away the fear in her heart, “I am Countess Florina Bellerose,” she would only reveal her gift when asked—for surely they would ask since she was certainly not registered—if not a little hesitantly, the warnings of her parents to keep it a secret ringing in her ears, “I can detect the presence of magic,” and she could feel magic radiating off of the king. Several types, in fact, although she was not sure exactly what kind of magic was attached to him.
Mara didn't recognize the woman who stepped forward, but that really didn't matter. What mattered was that as she flipped through the list she didn't see the name. Looking between the Queen and the King of Nevermere she then looked at the unregistered woman. "She isn't on the registry, Lady Florina Bellerose , you are unregistered, what is your gift?"
With the response she made a note to add it to the registry later, with an official interview with the young woman. At another time though. Right now she would let their highnesses decide. She waited for them to proceed to check the next name.

It was as Florina Bellerose was answering the question that the prince slipped into the room. He'd discreetly seek to take his niece's side, wherever she was. There had been much business to attend to, but he wasn't about to let Cassian Rainecourt handle such a thing unsupervised where he could manipulate @iliana to his will. The new information about Florina was quite the revelation. She was known to the prince, of course. But it was not the fact she was gifted so much as her gift itself that caught his attention. Magic detection; an exceedingly useful skill. No doubt others, the king included, would recognize that as well.

As everyone knew--and everyone knew this, there could be no exceptions, they had made sure of that--it was the law to be registered. Collars were removed for those who were registered. It had been clearly state upon its establishment now 7...perhaps 8 years ago, that those who didn't come forward to be registered were subjected to the law and risked being collared. Cassian had these things in his mind when Mara announced that Florina was not on the registry. But then she asked the woman's gift, and Cassian's interest was surely piqued. The likelihood of her committing crimes with a gift like that was slim to none. In fact, he, like Augustus, thought only of the usefulness of her gift.
Cassian waited for @mara to add the gift to the registry, and when she was finished he simply nodded at her and then looked to the woman beside Remiel, @oriana. He'd nod at her indicating she was next.
When the door opened, it broke the trance she had on Elena Eldouir. Drawing her attention to Augustus Rainecourt who didn’t look thrilled about this at all. Not as she slid into the spot beside her, opposite of Cassian Rainecourt and in front of October Montgomery. There was a tension that built within her body in that very moment. The thoughts of what had been said suddenly flooding her mind until she heard the gift that was not on the registry.
Eyes raised to look at Florina Bellerose with something akin to curiosity and thought. She wanted to ask how it worked, and her lips parted as if she would ask except she saw the way Cassian’s head turned and moved to the woman with Remiel Allemeade. Iliana lingered only a few more moments before she met Remiel’s gaze. Out of all the gifteds in the room, she wanted to speak to him on his own. Criminal or no, Iliana had more trust in him. Yet she had a feeling after what just happened, he was less than willing to speak with her.
So she turned her gaze up to Augustus Rainecourt at her side, a question lingering there: ‘what happened’. Yet the task at hand took precedence. And with a small movement, her arm brushed against her husbands as she shifted slightly closer to him as an act of comfort for herself.
Arynnite armor: The armor have two states: active and inactive. When inactive, they look like little more than ornate metal bracers, easily ignored. When triggered, the armor covers Tybalt and serves as an exoskeleton. It will protect its wearer from physical damage and is practically indestructible.
The armor has a certain "preprogrammed" purpose which is to protect its host. To do so, it reacts to heightened emotional states such as fear and anger, at which point the armor will trigger regardless of whether or not Tybalt wants it to or even if he's immediately aware of the threat. It has some degree of awareness and sentience although very basic and one which struggles to differentiate between enemies and friends. Whilst not actually in possession of a will, the armor can guide or direct its host in a specific action, much like a reflex.
The armor needs to be "fed" as Tybalt has discovered meaning that he must hold and absorb through touch certain metals such as steel, copper, iron and tin, a process which takes a few minutes. Without which, the armor will begin to weaken and become less effective until no longer able to manifest.
Perhaps its greatest weakness is that if being consistently bashed or beaten, it would begin to repair itself by using parts of the armor from elsewhere. For instance, if the wearer is being consistently hit in the chest, the armor will begin to pool away from other parts of their body such as the feet and hands, leaving them vulnerable.

Tybalt could of course see the use in terms of keeping track of their, mostly gifted at this point, enemies. She could even prove invaluable.
For the time being, the man found himself thinking of himself. He might not be gifted, but he did have a power that he hadn't ever bothered to bring up with anyone. Could this woman pick up on his hidden strength and hearing? He didn't know, nor did he want to know. It was another slap in the face. He would have to have another chat with Felicity. Now wouldn't that just be fun...
He bit his tongue. To react too strongly would seem suspicious. Best not to react at all and let those tasked with deciding about such things make the call.
Oriana was slightly confused why the King of Nevermere was leading this whole thing and not the queen who was but five feet to the side. She didn't mind in the slightest though, and she might have even been happy for a change in leadership had she not have been a sheep a few minutes ago .
"Oriana Dumont." Unless the lady with the list did shoddy work she would be on there. Of course the gift listed wasn't a complete telling what she was capable of, but they didn't need to know that. Certainly since she just wanted out.

Mara recognized the name given by the blonde. She had just recently re-registered. Apparently her family had been wiped out after the Eldouir betrayal and while she had been listed as dead for a while she was in fact right there in front of them. Mara wanted to make sure they got to talk after, hopefully to get an update on her gift from all those years ago.
"Oriana Dumont, the ability to heal bones." She was slightly disappointed that the woman didn't use her talents for something useful in the military, but maybe she would have in a different life.
Her eyes looked to Cassian Rainecourt now, unsure what would happen next now that her job was done.

There were a few other (NPCs) to get through before their time was finished, but everyone was extremely agreeable. They quickly got through the list, everyone else registered and without a gift that might have been an aid to the Eldouir.
With the task finished, Cassian said,
“Thank you all for your compliance. You may leave.” To Florina he said, “I would request that you return to the palace in two days time. The queen and I,” he glanced at Iliana, “would be pleased to make your acquaintance.” He then looked to Oriana. “Your gift could also be an asset to her majesty and her military. Please consider returning as well for an audience with us.” From the nod of his head, it was clear he was finished. There were things to talk about, sure, but for now there was one primary goal: tend to the Eldouir.

Remiel would let Oriana say what she needed to Cassian with one last look at the Queen with a small nod of his head and then he'd take Oriana's hand and depart with her.
Oriana smiled and dipped her head looking up at the king with a smile and would attempt to use her gift on the King Cassian Rainecourt . She would attempt to bring the C1 vertebrae to her hand and the C2 the opposite direction which would severe the brain stem instantly. If it was not effective she would immediately look to his side and see the woman, Regan Lassiter , who probably made her a sheep. Fuck her, she could get the damage if she couldn’t get the king. These people just thought they could do whatever they wanted without consequences. Maybe now they would learn.
