The peace that formerly reigned in Terra Nova has eroded, now little more than a memory. War ravages the continent. Disputes divide kingdoms; ideals divide families. The quest for power consumes absolutely and indiscriminately. None are immune to its allure.
Who will rise and who will fall? Only time—and ambition—will tell.

5 whole years of Heir Apparent goodness! When I started the site, I knew I was hunkering down for the long haul, but I never could have predicted the numerous twists and turns this roleplay site has seen. Hundreds of plots, characters, and members have come and gone, all leaving marks on the site. I am so very thankful for those who have invested. Because you keep coming back, keep getting on, and keep writing, Heir Apparent has the legacy it does today. Three cheers to us!
Arynnite armor: The armor have two states: active and inactive. When inactive, they look like little more than ornate metal bracers, easily ignored. When triggered, the armor covers Tybalt and serves as an exoskeleton. It will protect its wearer from physical damage and is practically indestructible.
The armor has a certain "preprogrammed" purpose which is to protect its host. To do so, it reacts to heightened emotional states such as fear and anger, at which point the armor will trigger regardless of whether or not Tybalt wants it to or even if he's immediately aware of the threat. It has some degree of awareness and sentience although very basic and one which struggles to differentiate between enemies and friends. Whilst not actually in possession of a will, the armor can guide or direct its host in a specific action, much like a reflex.
The armor needs to be "fed" as Tybalt has discovered meaning that he must hold and absorb through touch certain metals such as steel, copper, iron and tin, a process which takes a few minutes. Without which, the armor will begin to weaken and become less effective until no longer able to manifest.
Perhaps its greatest weakness is that if being consistently bashed or beaten, it would begin to repair itself by using parts of the armor from elsewhere. For instance, if the wearer is being consistently hit in the chest, the armor will begin to pool away from other parts of their body such as the feet and hands, leaving them vulnerable.

Tybalt would wait with bated breath for the collar. As soon as it was handed to him, he would slap it on the woman. Only then would he allow himself to relax and try to make sense of what had happened.
Whilst the explanations that had been offered could or perhaps should have have cleared things up a little bit, Tybalt found that he only had more. "In that case where did the fire come from?" Someone else in the room? Unlikely, only he and Cassian had been spared. Could the attack actually have come from outside the palace? The commander turned his gaze to look around the room, keen to ensure that nothing else was currently ablaze.

“Where indeed?” Now that the chaos had settled, Augustus stepped forward. His question wasn’t pointed, but the look he gave the crumpled witch was. Augustus would then move close to wherever @iliana was, standing just at her shoulder.

Remiel's answer didn't give her much more information than they already knew about Oriana, but she wouldn't put pressure on the Gifted. He was obviously heartbroken and sad, which was understandable, but Scout didn't feel much at all. She had initially liked Oriana, but the woman had became increasingly arrogant and rude to her.
Scout walked over to Florina Bellerose and would gently stroke her arm if she allowed it. Prisma had been a friend of hers, and this must be extremely sad and traumatising for her as well. Scout wanted to show her that she was there for her new friend.

Remi looked toward Iliana, "am I free to go your Majesty? I need to get back to the Keep," and he did truthfully need to go back because where there was @myla and Elena Eldouir possibly meant other Eldouir. Plus what more could he do here? What could he do for Oriana now?

Cassian’s gaze lingered on Florina Bellerose for a long moment before he said to Tybalt,
“Take them both in.” His eyes moved to Remiel Allemeade, and if the man cared to see, there was the slightest pang of regret. Of course, Cassian couldn’t know that Remiel had nothing to do with Oriana’s decision. All he was currently aware of was the fact that the two had been holding hands for this entire meeting, and then one of them had allegedly tried to do something other than heal bones, if Florian’s words proved true. Regan was out cold for no apparent reason.
“And take him in.” Cassian pointed towards one of the other gifteds in, the only other one possessing a gift that could have involved him in this (an NPC). “But collar them first.” Cassian look at Remiel once more. The man was already bitter, but this is what had to be done for now. For the safety of the queen. For the safety of them all.
Cassian then crouched to scoop Regan up, oblivious to the damage that had been done to her.

Talk about a rock and a hard place. Tybalt found himself trapped, looking between the king, and the gifted, both of whom he considered to be his friends. One of whom, he was now being asked to collar. The man would linger for a moment. Uncertain. It seemed to him that what Remiel needed more than anything right now was a doctor... One of Tybalt's men was already putting a collar on the remaining gifted. The commander found that the Allemeade was being optimistic with his request to be allowed to go away from here free. "I'll have some men go to ensure that your people are safe, you have my word. Right now, you need a doctor."
For once, Tybalt was adamant and certain about something, Remiel was innocent. Not only did he lack the powers required to start a fire, but he was as shaken by all of this as the rest of them. Experience had taught the commander that his friend wasn't easily unsettled. That was to say nothing of the fact that he man actually seemed to have come off far worse than anyone else here. Eventually, the man took a deep breath. He'd let Remiel take the fall before. "I think I can say with absolute certainty majesties that Remiel had nothing to do with... Whatever happened here. For one thing, had he actually intended to harm us, we wouldn't be standing here having this conversation, and he's proven time and time again his dedication to the crown, and Lorendale." Some of them at least would have been dead, the others fighting a giant tree or at least trying to. The commander still held the collar, rather he actually intended to use it remained to be seen.
Thankfully, it was the king of Nevermere himself who provided the man with an out. "Majesty, might it not be better to wait and find out why she fainted? We will have some medics here in a few minutes." It could be a curse, or some side effect of Oriana's magic whatever that was, and potentially transmittable. Otherwise she could be injured. It was a lesson that had been hammered into the old soldier by several exasperated medics on the battlefield, that you didn't move someone unless completely unavoidable. It could easily make things worse.
The commander would wait to see just what Cassian intended to do before continuing.
"Forgive me majesties, I realize that this has been a shock." The commander himself would likely be more unsettled were it not the adrenaline which was coursing through his veins. Even now, it wasn't the unconscious Oriana, or Remiel that he feared. It was the presence of the red haired woman which sent a shiver of dread down a spine, and all that she implied. "He have an Eldouir as our prisoner. Unless we are exceptionally fortunate and we happen to have the one Eldouir, Hiram would be quite happy to see axed, that means he will be coming here, and probably bringing with him hell's fury." Tybalt didn't feel that it was an exaggeration, he knew what the Eldouir could do. "Given that he can teleport, he could potentially, in the worst case scenario be here in only a few hours, the time that it takes him to realize that he's down an Eldouir and to prepare an attack. We need to begin to ready ourselves now."
They could spend the next few days debating what had happened with Oriana, and what to do about it, but the commander would be more inclined to throw her in a dungeon and forget about her for a little while, until they were confident that the Eldouir threat was dealt with.

Felicity heard the words of the king and saw Remiel Allemeade. Hadn't the man already had his title stripped for illegal activity? And now here he was again, holding hands with a gifted who had just attacked...well, someone. She'd felt the heat of the fire even from outside of the room. Though Cassian was no king of hers, Felicity heard his order and happened to support it. She would always support being cautious with gifteds. They were the enemy here. Anyone who failed to see that was--
Tybalt spoke up. Felicity felt her blood run cold. How could her own beloved husband be so trusting? So stupid? She blinked at him from beyond the room for a moment before surging forward, intent on doing just what the king had commanded. She would approach Tybalt Zane and seek to take the collar from his hands.
"We've been given orders." She whispered it, but surely those closest to them would still hear. If anyone had any wonderings about marital strife in the Zane household, they need wonder no longer. Should she successfully attain the collar from her husband, Felicity would then move to put it at Remiel Allemeade's throat.

"Don't Captain," Remiel pleaded with Tybalt not about the collaring but disagreeing with the foreign King his blue eye never looked at the woman who slapped the collar on him but instead glared past Cassian towards Elena then Florina. Today Remiel vowed he would never lift his Gift to help this kingdom again, he would never save a non-gifteds life again. Remiel would never accept the invitation to leave Lorendale to live on Rainecourt Keep either, he hoped that this kingdom got everything it deserved. Again Remiel was being accused of nothing other than loving someone who betrayed that love, left with the bag in his hand for being in the wrong place at he wrong time where they wanted him as if the conspiracy to see him fall was all that mattered to them. All Gifteds were to be held accountable. He was done.

Ugh, this was getting so boring. Now that all the magic had been halted and there was nothing but talking Elena was growing restless and bored. Unless someone had a hand on her to stop her she let out a dramatic sigh and actually sat down on the floor, sitting cross-legged and leaning back on her hands, her fingers thrumming against the cold floor.
She did perk up a bit at the mention of Hiram Eldouir, a soft smirk on her lips. Tybalt Zane wasn't wrong. Elena had no reason to keep fighting right now because she knew that Hiram would come for her. He might be pissed at her for getting herself into this situation but she had no doubt that he'd come. She wouldn't be surprised if @myla showed up too, she knew she'd always have her back and she would surely notice her absence even though she'd left before she could get stuck here too.
"It really is in your best interest to just release me," she said casually to no one in particular. She knew they wouldn't do so but she wasn't lying. It would be safer for all of them if they just let her walk out right now.
Iliana had gotten her hands on the registry when she heard it. The order to collar the one gifted that was supposed to be one their side which made her turned to face them all, clutching the registry in her hands. Tybalt spoke before she ever had the chance to, and something softer entered her face as she realized the plea for Remiel Allemeade. Yet whatever had happened, a side effect or an attack... she leaned more towards the latter only due to the words that had come from the other woman who was unconscious on the floor to the gifted who they had just invited back.
A sliver of guilt wrapped around her heart and when she looked back to Cassian Rainecourt as he lifted Regan, she even stepped forward. "Cassian, no-," but it would be too late, the witch already in his arms. "Healers are on their way," again she went to look to the registry but between Tybalt Zane's warning and then Elena Eldouir seeming to be bored with them had a new anger boiling inside of her. "Get her out of here." For the first time, hard green eyes landed back on the woman. "Ensure she is guarded in her cell." Even if her voice trembled more than she wished it did.
Footsteps would be heard, running down the hall as her guard came back with a few healers with him. They didn't wait to be directed, one moving over to Remiel, another to Oriana who was unconscious on the ground, the other two walking towards Cassian who held Regan Lassiter in his arms.

Cassian met Tybalt Zane’s haze when the man spoke. When Cassian had demanded the gifteds not be collared it was when he did not think the queen would be in the room. Here she was, however, and Cassian would not have her armed because of one hurt gifted’s feelings. He let Tybalt finish his plea, to which he simply repeated,
“Collar him. Take all three to the dungeons. It may only be temporary, but until you can unquestionably prove that he had no part in what this other gifted has done, we will not take any risks with the security of the queen.” He would have thought that Tybalt of all people would understand that. Hadn’t Remiel been a royal guard, too? Though Remiel had been innocent, but now that he associated with the guilty, they could not be so sure. Only a fool would take a chance.
When the healers entered, Cassian would step forward to pass Regan Lassiter to one of the men. He would then turn back for @iliana, offering her his arm, seeking to escort her out. They had much to do, but not right this moment.

October had remained close enough to Iliana that he could act in her defense again should the need arise. He did not, and would not, speak in his opinion on that matter at hand as there was argument about Remiel and the other gifted. His priority was the Queen and her safety. Should Iliana take Cassian's arm, he would follow along after the King and Queen to exit the room.
Cassian Rainecourt gave his command, and if Tybalt Zane would not bring them, Iliana’s eyes moved to his wife, Felicity Zane. Her gaze flickered to the gifteds and then back to her, having a gut feeling that she would ensure it.
Iliana turned to look up at October Montgomery as the healers started moving and working, and a silent thank you passed on her face to him. She didn’t need to say it out loud, he was her guard after all. If anything, he had just proven exactly why he was. But she was grateful nonetheless.
She’d seek Cassian’s extended arm with no hesitation, though she’d look back at those in the room. With the gifted registry still safely in her arms, she would nod and effectively dismiss those in the room if they were not stopped before they left the room. She’d call on those who she needed to meet with, but for now, they all needed to catch their breath.
[ Exit Cassian/Iliana/October if no one stops them ]

Tybalt would bow his head. An order was an order... There was no choice but to obey. The man would grit his teeth as Felicity approached. For a split second, irritation would flash across his face. It vanished almost instantaneously however. This was no time or place to get into a domestic dispute with his wife. They would talk about this. The commander would make sure.
For the time being however, there were more serious matters which needed to be addressed. The commander wouldn't hand over the collar to his wife. There was no need. Instead, he would turn to Remiel. He wished he could say "sorry" aloud. He didn't dare though. Instead, the man would move to put a collar on his friend, feeling as if he might as well have been stabbing the man. As soon as he had the chance, Tybalt would set about proving the man's innocence. He prayed that it wouldn't be a difficult task.
Assuming that there were no more obstacles encountered, the commander would accompany the prisoners to the dungeons, keen to ensure that they were locked away safely.

Remiel had decided he wasn't going to fight for his innocence if saving Tybalt or the King's witch wasn't enough then what would be the point? The collar on his throat was tight and cold. He felt nothing. Remiel would not live his life in a collar, he'd rather be with Luna and he had no one here in this kingdom to say good bye to either.
